Anacortes waterfront homes boast some of the most magnificent living in the Pacific Northwest.  Fortunately for buyers, the peninsula's geography include miles and miles of land so Anacortes waterfront homes aren't hard to find. Unlike most waterfront houses, Anacortes waterfront homes come in sizes and styles besides "extravagant."  The serene, out-of-the-way location of the city deters some builders with dreams of mansions and waterslides, thus leaving room for more modest planners to construct the house of their dreams.   As a result, Anacortes waterfront homes range from the enormous coastal houses found in other areas of the state to cozy, 2-bedroom units unique to the area. Many Anacortes waterfront homes are constructed on cliffs and bluffs with gorgeous, panoramic views of bays,...

Anacortes condominiums have been on the forefront of a trend that is now visible throughout the state - for decades, Anacortes condominiums have been designed and constructed as lifelong homes, rather than "starters."   As a result, Anacortes condominums of every age and style are perfect for those looking to live comfortably and affordably. The average Anacortes condominium is significantly larger than any found in the big city.  Since Anacortes is at no lack of space, few studios can be found in town.   Instead, complexes boast immense one, two, and three-bedroom units.  These range from slightly under 1,000 square feet to well over 2,000.   Many single-family homes in the area are the exact same size, yet cost thousands of dollars more. Many Anacortes condominiums are directly on the...

Oyster Run 2007 is almost upon us!  For those of you that live in the Northwest and haven't experienced Oyster Run in Anacortes, it is a blast!  Our little town gets converted into a giant party with Bikers, Bars, Beer gardens, Boisterous fun, and Unmuffled exhaust.  It all happens on Sunday September 23rd.  There is no specified time or route to participate in the run.  People even show up at the start of the weekend to check out the town and participate in the pre-run festivities.  Downtown really gears up for the weekend by bringing in live music for the weekend.  For complete details go to the official website http://www.oysterrun.org/  There are lots of links to local information on their site.  This is a very family friend...

Here's a market overview for Anacortes' fourth quarter:  October 2006:  79 total transactions closed with $90,479,812 in dollar volume.  November 2006:  69 total transactions closed with $67,278,844 in dollar volume.December 2006:  71 total transactions closed with $84,937,942 in dollar volume. The Median Sales Price for a single family home was @ $316,000 which had a slight gain of @ $10,000 from the previous quarter.  The Average Sales Price was @ $379,000 and also had a slight gain of @ $4,000 from the previous quarter.          Now, I could dissect and extrapolate all kinds of data from our market, these figures, I have found, are the most telling.  I don't care how the market trends may go, it's tough to compete with Santa Clause.  It also seems that a lot of buyers are now re-enter...

The views are fantastic!!  The only drawback is the 2:15 a.m. run from the stockyard.  If the noise don't wake you up, the smell will!!  It never ceases to amaze me how much of a premium house buyers put on a view.  I deal with view property and homes nearly every day.  Anacortes Washington is certainly a beautiful place.  We have a good balance of occupied and preserved shorelines.  To our west there are some of the most beautiful sunsets over puget sound looking at the San Juan Islands and out the Straight of San de Fuca.  Western Washington has a diverse selection of view potential.  We have lakes, mountains, forests, farming valleys, cities, oceans, islands, bridges, you name it and we got it.   The big deal in Anacort...

What a weekend we had in Western Washington! 90 mph winds, sideways rain, power outages, and cold weather. I'm grateful for good friends who let us use their shower. We had to cancel a dinner party on Sunday due to the lack of power, and water. That's nothing compared to people who still haven't got any power or heat and don't look like they'll get any relief for several more days. I take my hat off to those work crews that have been working their asses off so that we can be comfortable. To everybody braving the cold to cut down trees and re-establish power to all the residences in Western Washington a huge THANK YOU!!!!!!!

I was once on your shoes.  My wife and I were stationed in Keflavik Iceland when we got the call to Whidbey Island.  On house hunting leave we decided to live about half an hour away from the base in Anacortes.                                That was about fifteen years ago, and now you know the rest of the story.  I can't believe that I'm still in one place for this long.  Needless to say, I'm out of the Navy now.  After being in the military and wandering all over the world it's really nice to find a place to call home.I love this town.  We are right in between everything.  Seattle is only about an hour and a half away (traffic allowing)and Vancouver B.C. is about the same distance to the North.  Anacortes is considered the gateway to the San Juans and is...

Well, here it is mid-November and I am already missing summer.  I usually don't get this way until around the begining of February, but we have had the rainiest November (it's about to break the record) and it's looking pretty gray today.    I was just thinking back on how wonderful this summer was, and how much fun whale watching can be.  I feel so fortunate to be in a place that has such easy access to boating, the ocean, and a vast array of marine wildlife.  I have only had one opportunity to whale watch from my house.  It was June of 2002 when my son pointed out the spray of a surfacing Orca.  The small group passed by Deception Island and skirted the western coast of Whidbey Island by the Naval Air Station.  I'm not sure if it is ...

My training taught me quite a lot about contracts, and customer service.  My training also taught me about liability.  Here's a little annecdotal information.  An agent and client were present together with the home inspector during an inspection.  The new agent, eager to be helpful and diligent, went everywhere with the client and the inspector around the house.  Taking care to note any deficiencies that the inspector points out.  It's a newer home, so no laundry list of problems.  Except, they couldn't get the gas range and oven to work.  After a few attempts they moved on.  End of story......right?  Later that evening the seller comes home to a gas filled home, rescues the family pet and ventilates the house.  Whew!!!!  No harm done, everyone's OK.  Flip that story around to a not so...
