Today in Anacortes, there are 267 single-family homes listed in the MLS. 23 of them have an offer. Roll back the clock... last week there were 288 total, 27 had an offer... last month there were 315 total, 30 had an offer. Our inventory is dwindling - just like it does every winter. If there is a house you are particularly interested in - think about making a move on it now before the owners take it off the market or decide to rent it out! The Samish Nation purchased approx. 14 acres on Hwy 20 in Anacortes, WA for $8.6 million. The land was purchased by Bill Wooding.  Mr. Wooding had tried for years to ge the city to change the zone so a large super store could be built on the property.  The land will be placed in a federal trust by the Samish nation, which will allow the land to be developed in a multitude of ways.  The process of removing from the city tax rolls and placing the land into a trust is a process that might take years.    10/29/2008

Anacortes, WA  Shannon Point Marine Center Gets Two Grants! The National Science Foundation greanted Western Washington University's Shannon Point Marine Center two more grants.  One of the grants will study the effect of climate change on sea anemones.   The second grant helps provide funding to  minority students in order to diversify professionals in the marine science field. The Anacortes Real Estate Market Shows Good Sales For September   What?  Something good to report on Anacortes Home for Sale? There were 2 more Anacortes Homes sold in Sept. 2008 than in Sept. 2007 in Anacortes, WA.  Last year there were 20 Anacortes Homes sold while this year there were 22!  Last year one of those Anacortes Homes was over one million dollars and this year there were 2!  There is a difference in the markets though as August was very soft this year. The average days on market this year was 212 for Sept. sales vs. only 100 days on market for Sept. last year.
