The sales activity in 2010 at the Gates of McLean was great and prices were up on average for 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units. With the new metro getting closer to completion and the new noise barriers the community is getting more and more attractive. There were 18 homes sold in 2009 - in 2010 24 units sold (11 in the last half of the year.)  The lowest price was a 1br/1ba foreclosure at $193,000. The highest price was a renovated 3br/2ba property with granite countertops at $368,000. The sales mix changed from 2009 to the first half of 2010. In 2009 about 40% of the sales were foreclosures or short sales. In 2010 about 33% were - will 2011 continue the trend? Are you wondering about Northern Virginia real estate and pondering what has sold recently? Here's some information about the most expensive home sales in Northern Virginia (Arlington County, Alexandria City, Fairfax City, Fairfax County, and Falls Church City) for January 2011.  All information was obtained through MRIS. Overall, there were 42 Northern Virginia home sales topping $1 million during January 2011.  This is a big drop from the 70 that sold in December 2010 and below the 57 that sold in November.  This reflects an overall slow month for real estate in January 2011.  Currently, there are 566 homes on the market in Northern Virginia with list prices topping $1 million - this is a slight increase from the 540 that were on the market at this time last month. Two weeks ago, I was contacted by a Realtor for staging a newly constructed million dollar house, and to keep expenses down, was only looking to stage ONE space within the home.  In line with a topic from a previous post, I informed him I could definitely stage one area in the home.
