Trick or Treat  at Oakwood Homes   October 26th, 10-3 pm As a real estate company in Farmville VA, State Wide Realty has a great working relationship with the local Oakwood Homes office. The Heart of Virginia Festival is an event that helped me come to love my town Farmville, VA.  This great event held on the first Saturday of May every year is a day long event with something to offer everyone. The community comes alive for the festival. The festival started as an art show 35 years ago but has become so much more. Student writers and photographers from Longwood University colloborated to bring this great project to life and an exhibition was held at the Farmville Farmer's Market last week. The stories and photographs focused on issues of hunger and nutrition in the local area and provided a wonderful example of "Town and Gown" working together.    Many local Farmville organizations and individuals supported the project helping to make it a reality. The works were displayed at the Farmer's Market over the course of two days where everyone was welcome to come along and view. An opening reception was held the first evening allowing members of the public to meet and talk with the students and learn more about their work. On Thursday I had the opportunity of hosting an after hours event with our local Chamber of Commerce. The Farmville Area Chamber of Commerce has been hosting these events for many years now and it is a great way to bring the local business community together. The Farmville area is lucky to be served by a great Chamber that is so active in the community and serves the local businesses so well. Often we get so wrapped up in the day to day tasks involved with running a business it can be difficult to take time and network with other business owners in the local area. It's great to get this opportunity every so often to relax and chat with each other.
