If so then these sheep at George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate have plenty to count.  One of the nice things about having an annual pass to Mount Vernon is getting to stop by to enjoy the view and check on the animals at the Pioneer Farm.  These guys were oblivious to the throngs of school children who were on site this week.  Must be nice to be able to get a few zzzzz's in the middle of the day.

Land holdings of George Mason IV came as far north as what is now known as Hybla Valley and Huntley Meadows Park Thomson Mason, a grandson of George Mason, built the villa pictured above on the property in 1825. The house, now known as Historic Huntley, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Virginia Landmarks Register, and the Fairfax County Historic House Inventory. Mason family ownership of the land lasted into the early part of the 20th century. Individual sections of the land were sold for family farms, but eventually the federal government acquired the land closest to the home using it as a highway materials test site and World War II anti-aircraft battery. When the federal government declared the land surplus it was deeded to Fairfax County. ALEXANDRIA 22309 MOUNT VERNON REAL ESTATE MARKET A Buyer client recently made a comment regarding the local real estate market being in a "state of decline."  At first I thought he was merely trying to justify his "low ball" approach to offers and his unwillingness to negotiate when a Seller came back with a counter offer, at which he took great offense. Since Buyers right now are typically somewhat frustrated by the lack of inventory and multiple offer situations they often find themselves in, I was somewhat taken back by his comment.   I asked him why he felt the market - specifically, the real estate market in Alexandria's Mount Vernon area - was declining.  He believed it to be true because a few houses he had his eye on had reduced prices recently. Okay, fair enough, I said.  I get...

I took this photo yesterday during a walk along the Potomac River near Mount Vernon, the old home of George Washington.  It was close to sunset, and this fellow decided to stand there and pose for me.  At first, I thought he was standing on a rock, but once I got a closer look, it's probably an old funky tree trunk.   I snapped it with my Lumex.  If you are planning a move to the Washington, DC area, I can help!  Call, email or text me at: housepat@mac.com 202 549-5167 Licensed in DC, MD & VA
