A reason. A season. Or life.   As the car pulls from the curb, seven+ years of memories invade my mind, tugging at the heart in an effort to extricate them from the extreme grief.   Today, little Rugerman, his mom, sister and brother will be driving to Iowa, their next place of residence.   Again, I say goodbye with a heaviness that might lighten upon his return. In the meantime, the soul well has become empty, in dire need of full-filling.   They say that people come into your life for a reason, a season or life. It is up to us as individuals to gleam the lessons gained or taught from each and every one.   With Ruger, I was there to witness his first breath of life. Through the years, he taught us to be present, happier, to allow true joy into our lives and to forgive easily.   Family...

It's Official! Firstday has Replaced Thursday. While Face-timing Little Miss Independent aka Kenslee Mae, (our just turned) 4-year old Gbaby girl, I asked when she was going to make a visit to come to see me and Popop. She replied, "On Firstday." I asked, "On Thursday?" She said, "No Gma, it's Firstday!" Firstday it is and I am so happy that her cute family will be here soon to make some lasting memories. Popop is excited to hold Baby Kodah, her little brother for the first time. Happy Monday all...I may start calling it Moneyday...what do you think?

Nerdin Gardens: A Pocket Full of Sunshine! Our gardens are currently teeming with life. Summer flowers are blooming, creating bright pops of color throughout the entire landscape. Zucchini, several varieties of tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, artichokes, grapes, muscadines, cucumbers and melons are all ripening at a quickened pace, from garden to table. Fresh salads throughout the long growing season is a gardener's perk. Walking the garden perimeter daily ensures that plant material thrives and problems are quickly handled. This routine is similar to running a business. Systems and processes need to be given consistent attention to remain successful and flourish or it may simply die of neglect. Everyone can aspire to elevated standards if they wish. Of course, self-motivation, diligence an...

Nerdin Gardens: A Multi-Sensory Delight! Growing season here in sunny southern Utah and is in full swing. As many of you know, Nerdin Gardens grows a diverse selection of fruits and vegetables every year. The zucchini, crook neck squash, green beans, snow peas, peppers, artichokes and strawberries are coming on quickly now. Rose bushes are fragrantly tickling our olfactory sensors and birds are harmoniously, happily tweeting! Reading and relaxing while enjoying the smells, sounds and sights after weeding is a favorite pastime in Nerdin Gardens. The garden looks beautiful every year by adding special touches here and there, especially flowers and colorful decor items. We are indeed thankful for the abundant food that the back yard garden produces from fresh salads made with lettuce, fres...

Nerdin Gardens: Productively Praying  Her belly swollen with Praying Mantis eggs, this female is content to wait long periods on the underside of Hibiscus leaves for approaching food. Flying insects are attracted to this sweet, aromatic blooming plant. Soon she will find a location to create an ootheca, a hard, protective shell pod that houses the eggs. It is permanently attached to a stationary place, such as a branch, post or fence until spring arrives. An adult female will lay 100 to 400 eggs that will hatch, releasing the nymphs, ready to hunt other small invertebrates once temperatures are conducive, ensuring another generation of master hunters. Carry on momma, I wish you well and am so looking forward to meeting your little ones next year in Nerdin Gardens! .........................
