Millcreek Properties A proactive and quantitative approach to assessing the desires of Salt Lake County Township residentsIn 1995, the Utah State Legislature created the 'Township Provision' which allowed areas of unincorporated Salt Lake County to form townships. Since the provision was enacted, the purpose and makeup of the townships has been debated and revised. In the spring of 2005, the sunset provision relating to townships in counties of the first class, was extended to 2010. Due to the ongoing debate regarding townships, legislative intent was included in the Township bill, known as House Bill 40 or HB40. The legislative intent was to ensure that Salt Lake County, and the cities residing within and adjacent to the townships, work together to determine the desire of the residents ...

I remember hearing that there was a farcical musical being made about the Book of Mormon. My initial reaction was, "Oh, this will bomb. The average person is not interested in such a niche topic."So, I was surprised that it not only found an audience but went on to win nine Tony Awards. So, it's obvious that the musical is a hit outside of Salt Lake City. Now, it has come to Salt Lake City; will it be well received here, where half the population is Mormon? There is a bit of controversy about the subject matter. Some feel that the musical mocks things they hold sacred while others feel that the satirists behind the story are equal opportunity humorists who also celebrate the quirks as well as the earnestness of the characters that are portrayed.I've not seen the musical so I have no real op...

Millcreek Homes Pioneer Day is an official holiday celebrated on July 24 in Utah, with some celebrations in regions of surrounding states originally settled by Mormon pioneers. It commemorates the entry of Brigham Young and the first group of Mormon pioneers into the Salt Lake Valley on July 24, 1847, where the Latter-day Saints settled after being forced from Nauvoo, Illinois, and other locations in the eastern United States. Parades, fireworks, rodeos, and other festivities help commemorate the event. Similar to July 4, most governmental offices and many businesses are closed on Pioneer Day.In addition to being an official holiday in Utah, Pioneer Day is considered a special occasion by many members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). On Pioneer Day, some ...

Millcreek Homes There is a diamond in the rough in our area -- Millcreek Canyon.  The canyon is open year round except the top six miles of the canyon.  This is open from July l until November 1 of each year.  The top six miles opens up to the peaks of the Wasatch Mountain range and you can overlook into Park City, climb another peak and look into Big Cottonwood Canyon. The top of Millcreek has inter-connection trails for bikers, hikers and runners so you can actually go into Park City and Big Cottonwood as well as Neffs Canyon.  The trail system has grown and it is exciting to explore these trails. Another famous trail is to Dog Lake and is very popular with the dog owner community since on odd days you can take your dog to this lake off leash..Millcreek insider will help you find the ...

Millcreek Homes          10 simple ways to save energy and money this summer: Set your air conditioner thermostat as high as comfortable – we recommend 78ºF or higher when you’re at home, and 85ºF when you’re gone. Keep inside air vents clear from furniture and other objects.   Have your central air conditioner tuned up and clean or replace filters monthly for more efficient operation.   Minimize indoor heat: run the dryer and dishwasher at night on hot days and let your dishes air dry. Avoid heat-generating incandescent lighting and use a microwave, toaster oven or outdoor grill instead of the oven. It's best to avoid the use of major appliances between 2 and 8 p.m.   Set your water heater to 120ºF.   Keep the blinds and windows closed during the day and open at night. This is a no-cos...

Millcreek Homes     I thought you might like to know a little about what is happening in our area and some background about the widening of sidewalks and maybe the effect it will have. As I see it, there are questions raised:  Salt Lake County has presented their three open houses on a project for 2300 E. and 3300 So.  There is a proposed widening of the sidewalk, narrowing of the lanes along 3300 So. to three and an expanded shopping area. Please see the links below. http://slco.org/townships/2300-east-town-center-development-plan/   Several years ago, SLCounty presented a plan to make the major east-west corridor up 3900 So. which is a county road from 700 E. to Wasatch Blvd. with clicker buses and a widened road.  This planned traffic corridor intersects three major school crossings ...
