Technically The Habit shouldn't qualify as a localism post, it is a chain out of Santa Barbara, but they do almost no advertising.  I had never heard of this wonderful chain until Darcy and I decided to give it a try one afternoon. There was a fairly large line, and we thought, well, it must be good.  We weren't wrong!   They call their hamburgers Char Burgers and you can decide what you wish to have on them.  I recommend the Santa Barbara Char Burger.  I really liked this place, the food is prepared to order and the Onion Rings only cost a dime more than French Fries!  If you do go, you have to be sure to try the little yellow wax peppers. If you have ever driven north on Interstate 15 in Davis County and looked atop the mountains to the east, you have undoubtedly noticed the round shaped radar components atop Francis Peak.  This is a radar sight which provides weather data to the University of Utah and the National Weather Service. It is a beautiful, yet sometimes nerve racking  drive to get to Francis Peak, but the views once there are spectacular.  I used to have a lot of pictures taken from up there, but they have become part of history in the moves that we have made.  The peak its self is about 9500 feet above sea level.   In the vicinity of the radar site there is some great camping places and some wonderful hiking trails.  In my opinion, a four wheel drive vehicle is needed to drive up there, the road is well trave... 07/12/2014

Today I am featuring Utah's Family Fun Park, (at least according to the advertising), Lagoon.  Lagoon is located in Farmington, and it is Northern Utah's premier amusement Park.  Lagoon has been around since the late 1800's and on it's current site since 1886. I honestly had no idea that it was that old!  My older brother worked there one Summer when he was in High School, so much of the mystique was taken away when I was pretty young.  There are several great roller coasters and other attractions including Pioneer Village.   Blogging From The Road - Lagoon Amusement Park   In case you don't always follow my blog, our boys and I (Gretchen) are on a month-long trip to Utah to visit family. We spent a week in Ogden, Utah and probably the high point of the week for the boys was our visit to Lagoon Amusement Park. To us, amusement parks are just so very "summer". Talk about one adrenaline rush after another! The boys were in heaven and I even tried a few rides including "Wicked", a pretty intense roller coaster (and I use that term lightly), that takes riders straight up then plummets them straight down before twisting and going upside down, all at break neck speeds. Lagoon: Utah's version of Disneyland.  OK, I will have to admit it has taken me almost 9 years to go to Lagoon. For anyone not familiar with Lagoon, it is an amusement park that features roller coasters, a water park and all different levels of rides for the entire family.  It is located in Farmington, Utah which is about 40 minutes from where we live in Sandy, Utah.  The park is open to different venues, events, (my daughters dance team, Studio 56 dance has had a competition there before) school events and they even have a campground for those who love to camp.  During the fall season they offer Frightmares as a Halloween type treat. Farmington, Utah's Lagoon Amusement Park in Infrared   Being an Infrared Thermographer, I find capturing most all things in Infrared to be interesting. After doing an Infrared Home Inspection in Farmington Utah, I couldn't help but get the desire to see some roller coasters in Infrared. Yesterday was the 2nd of the 3 day Easter Weekend Equine Events. Over 218 horses competed in the barrel racing event alone. Over the weekend I was able to get some new photos of the Station Park development (finally a near sunny day) and also get an update on anticipated timelines for some of the early openings. Harmons continues to plan for a May opening.  Based on construction to date, it certainly looks like that will be a realistic timeline.  As you see from the photo, the main structure's walls are now well developed and with a good deal of the brick facia Harmon's stores are known for already in place.  A good deal of interior work is also being completed as roofing has been put in place.  Some of the interior concrete has also been poured.  Harmons' construction crews are busy this year as they are working on both the Station Park and City Creek projects.
