Deer Crest Estates is a collection of ski-in/ski-out homes located at Deer Valley Resort.  These homes have sweeping views of Bald Mountain and/or the Jordanelle Reservoir as well as the wooded hillsides that the homes are located on. The ski terrain here is served by the Deer Crest Gondola as well as a high speed chairlift and this is also the home of the Jordanelle base area with easy access to Deer Valley from Heber City as well as some of the outskirts of Park City, making this a convenient access point for many looking to avoid the crowds at Snow Park or Silver Lake. The marvelous amenity of skiing in Deer Valley is that you can ski in to various places for lunch.  Last Wednesday, we skied to the St.Regis,condohotel.  Their signature lunch item is truffle pizza, and we ordered it.  Our waiter explained it is made with fresh dough, a layer of truffle paste, then topped with thin slices of fresh black truffles, and fontina cheese.  When the pizza is done they add a bit of frisee lettuce dressed in lemon and olive oil, as an additional texture. The Rinnai Tankless Water Heater Revisited - I blogged about these units 2 years ago when the jury was still out. Well now the jury is in, and I am no longer a skeptic. They really work and they work really well. I saw them all over England and Europe a few years ago, then they appeared at the condos at our ski resorts. Utah has 14 ski resorts and 10 are in the Salt Lake City area so we inspect a lot of these condos. Most of these condos are rentals and time shares so they sit vacant most of the time. So the on demand tankless water heaters made great sense. Now we are seeing these water heaters in more and more homes. The most common is the Rinnai Model R85. Park City's New St. Regis at Deer Valley                 Several clients have asked me if the new St. Regis at Deer Crest will be open for the 2009/2010 Deer Valley® ski season in Park City. After my tour yesterday of this amenity rich hotel I have to say I believe it will. Everywhere I looked I saw people working, over 400 of them in fact.  The 100% wool carpet is going in; kitchen equipment is being hooked up for the banquet kitchen as well as Chef Jean Georges new restaurant. The final touches are being added to features like the waterfall, and the fire garden (my name for it) next to the "ski beach" slope-side pool area. After watching the steady progress over the last couple of years all of the pieces seem to be coming together for the Park City and Deer Valley ski season opening. ... 06/16/2009

St. Regis Resort & Residences, Deer CrestConstruction Update: Closing Day at Deer Valley Ski Resort.Years ago, we watched the excavation of the site at the top of Portugese Gap where the St. Regis tower will be located. It's pretty incredible to see the hotel taking shape.  The framing is nearly complete for the St. Regis Condos, which are the lower 7 stories of the hotel.In the months ahead, the top four stories-the St. Regis Residences-will begin to take shape. Is Deer Valley the Dubai of the Rocky Moutnains?  Here's the rest of the St. Regis Deer Valley story... 04/18/2008
