The Annual Century 21 Hardee-Team Realty Christmas Party was held today December 17th, 2009 at 10am to Noon.   Aside from being a Century 21 office, we also build homes (as Hardee-TexStar Homes).  The party was held in one of our model homes off of Tomball Parkway.   The gifts under the tree are for the trade-around, some people call it a White Elephant.   I took a Capitol of Texas Christmas Tree Ornament to the trade-around and ended up with a massaging neck pillow.          Here are some of our agents and office staff.   Notice our beautiful arches?  They are standard in our custom built homes.           Connie, our office manager, ended up with these little Christmas plates.       One of our agents got this gift, which is a package with adorable hand-made gift tags.  And, her gift al...

Fall in Tomball.  These beautiful trees are off of the new FM 249 Bypass in Tomball, Texas.  We really don't get a long season of trees changing colors here, so I saw these trees and knew I had only a few days to take the picture before the leaves would fall off.  Someone said they are birch trees, do you know if they are right?                       I was on my way to get an iced tea and saw these ducks, and then I remembered a duck pond right behind this office building. Here is the pond behind the office building (off of FM 249).  The ducks have noticed me and are now coming my way -- although I told them I didn't have any food. I will have to take them some bread tomorrow.  They are so pretty. Here is another one of the beautiful trees that are changing color.   Here in Tomball we r...

Tomball College Fall Fest 2009 was rocking the house today.  They combined the normal Fall Fest activities with Halloween this year.  The decorations and balloons were everywhere in the commons area of Tomball College and there was even a Disc Jockey playing rock/rap music for part of the day.  Various school clubs and activities were represented. Close up of Trevor the Timberwolf who is the mascot for Tomball College.  He was getting "wrapped" by students. Here is the DJ and he even did the record scratch thing.  There were lots of kids dancing before I took this picture, but I guess they wandered off to eat some goodies. Another cute blow up decoration that was in the commons of Tomball College. A different view of the Fall Fest.  Notice all the people in the purple t-shirts, they we...

By Bob Moos RISMEDIA, September 2, 2009-(MCT)-Seniors battered by the tough economy are selling their life insurance policies to replenish their retirement nest eggs.  Unlike younger investors, older adults may not have the time to wait for the market to recover all of their losses, so they're turning to this previously overlooked asset to see whether they should sell it and use the money to pay medical bills or other expenses.  Seniors sold life insurance policies with a face value of $11.8 billion last year, almost double the value of policies sold just two years earlier, according to the U.S. Senate's special committee on aging, which recently held a hearing on such transactions. A "life settlement," as a sale is called, may be an attractive option for seniors who determine they no l...

The above oak tree was a causality of Hurricane Ike.  It is on Baker Street in Tomball which I travel often.  I watched the artist sculpting the tree from my car as I traveled back and forth on Baker Street.  I figured the cougars had something to do with the cougar being the mascot of Tomball High School. I found a youtube video that our local Tomball Potpourri News made that explains it all. The artist who carved the tree is Master Wood Carver Nathan Smith, a local Tomball artist.  He carved two cougars in a rocky cliff setting out of this fallen oak tree.  Yes, the cougars are in recognition of The Tomball Cougars. Please click here to watch the Youtube vidoe about the Tomball Cougar art sculptor! It is a very cool video and you can even watch Nathan Smith sculpting the cougars.

Tomball Rental Center and Tomball Party Rental  are located off of State Hwy. Business 249 just to the south of Tomball.  The owners Bill and Virgie Kitchens along with their son Terry opened Tomball Rental Center in 1977.  They started out with 300 pieces of equipment (mostly outdoor equipment).  They have grown to where they now have over 10,000 pieces of equipment to rent.  Through all this growth Tomball Rental Center has stayed a family owned business.  Their son Greg and his wife Beverly joined them in 1978. Every adult member of the family has worked in the business at one time or another.  They now have over 17 employees. I'm not sure where they were located to being with but in 1984 they moved to their present location off of SH 249.  That was when they added the Tomball Party ...

Mel's Country Cafe is in Tomball TX.  This is the second time I have written a post about Mel's but some things are just SO GOOD they are worth posting on more than once.  That would be Mel's Country Cafe! Mel's is on the outskirts of Tomball on Stanolind Rd.  It is on a country road that I use as a short cut over to Tomball so I drive by quite often.  It is amazing no matter what time of the day you drive by it is ALWAYS busy.  I have learned to slow down as I drive by as there are so many trucks I'm always afraid a car will be hidden behind one and not see me. The picture to the left was taken about 3:30 PM on a Sunday afternoon.  I wrote this prior to going to take the picture so this just validates my point. Mels Country Cafe is nothing in the looks department but the food is GREAT ...

I'm getting quite a few calls from people wondering when and where the fireworks will be going off in Tomball for the 4th this year. Here's what I know.... From 11am to 3pm on Saturday there will be some fun things to do in the Target parking lot off 2920/249. I heard it includes some bouncy things and water balloons and things the kids will enjoy. Then come back at dusk with your lawn chairs and set them up in one of the parking lots near Lowe's. Personally I prefer the old Kroger parking lot which still has the Cinema. Park right in the middle for the best views. HAve a safe, fun, happy 4th of July!!!

We had an extraordinarily good speaker at our Tomball Business and Professional Women luncheon.  Her name is Linda Talley and being a body language expert she spoke on "Non-Verbal Etiquette for the Business Woman". As I said this was a ladies group so her talk was geared for businesswomen.  I thought about usina a title of "Women REALTORS® smile too much".  You will need to watch the video below to get the full answer to that.   I have heard this before but verbal communication makes up 7% of all communication and non verbal makes up the other 93%.  We spend so much time focusing on what we are saying without spending time focusing on what we are saying with our body language.  We also have to remember that we may be reading what our clients are saying but they are also reading what we ...
