As appeared on Realtor.org, Is Your Customer Service Best for You or Your Clients? By David Krichmar Is your customer service best for you or your clients? Think about that question for a moment. Obviously, great customer service is not what is easiest for you.  In most situations, it is about going above and beyond. Maybe even inconveniencing you. I recently read a great article by Rebekah Radice, “The Simple Truth Behind Customer Service,” and the comments that people left got me thinking: Your customer service should be what the client expects, not what is easiest for you. So here are my random thoughts on providing great customer service: Everyone wants attention now!! We all do.  When we have a question, we want an answer.  So when possible, answer NOW!!!  Whether it be by phone, e...

TOUR THE WOODLANDS ~ VILLAGE OF INDIAN SPRINGS   As I continue the series “Welcome to The Woodlands”, our next stop is the Village of Indian Springs.   Indian Springs is located along the northern border of Montgomery County.   The Village is known as the “hilly” section of The Woodlands.    Fitness enthusiasts   love to run and bike the hills throughout this area.   The homes along the Spring Creek and the George Mitchell Preserve offer a unique topography and landscaping options.  These homes are highly sought after as many of them enjoy the privacy of a wooded forest reserve at the back of the property.   There are homes from the 100’s to the million dollar plus range!   The highly acclaimed private school, The John Cooper School is found right in the heart of Indian Springs.  This K...

TOUR THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS ~ VILLAGE OF COCHRAN’S CROSSING   Welcome to the Village of Cochran’s Crossing in The Woodlands, Texas.  Nestled in the very heart of The Woodlands is the 3rd Village to be developed in The Woodlands.  As The Woodlands continued to expand in the late 70’s and early 80’s, Cochran’s Crossing became a thriving and popular area.   Cochran’s Crossing lies in between The Woodlands Parkway to the south and Research Forest to the north.  Cochran’s Crossing Drive defines the most western edge with Panther Creek Drive flanking the eastern edge.  The village is quite large and has what I think to be one of the prettiest golf courses in the entire Woodlands.   The Palmer Golf Course gracefully winds throughout the village.  Gorgeous home sites can be found all along the co...

The Woodlands has branded itself as a great place to "live, work and play" -- and in this case, the brand is reality. One of the things I love most about The Woodlands is its respect for the environment and a desire to merge the best aspects of community with the surrounding natural environment. Take the bike trails, for example, where more than 160 miles of pathways and trails link the various residential villages and commercial areas in The Woodlands. Those trails not only provide an excellent means of enjoying the great outdoors and getting in a good run or bike ride -- they are an opportunity to see some truly beautiful little gems of nature. Take this view below, for example, of Shadow Lake, off Lake Woodlands. I captured this scene on an early morning run: This is part of a neighb...

He’s completed six Ironmans, competed professionally in triathlons, was a collegiate MVP at Clemson University in swimming, is a devoted husband and father, and more recently in the middle of this brutal recession, acquired -- and then expanded -- a string of retail shops devoted to swim sports. Tj Fry clearly loves a challenge. Spend a few minutes with him, and you may just want to take on a few challenges of your own. He notched his most recent Ironman – the venerable Kona Ironman competition in Hawaii – in early October of this year. As we sit and visit for a bit in the Starbucks in Market Street in The Woodlands (he has water – I do the loaded latte), I’m intrigued to find out what drives him. Tj still going strong in the marathon stretch of the 2011 Kona Ironman I’d especially like...

TOUR THE WOODLANDS ~ VILLAGE OF PANTHER CREEK Welcome to my continuing series of getting to know The Woodlands, TX one village and business center at a time.  Our community is very large and offers something for everyone.  Due to our dense forest and the great of the Developers, it can be quite confusing navigating through the area.  Hopefully this series will help a new resident or visitor to The Woodlands get to know the community. The Village of Panther Creek was the second village to be developed in The Woodlands and opened back in 1977.  The Village is located just west of The Woodlands Mall and boasts of being close to the freeway and shopping thus making it a very desirable location.  There are now approximately 3,600 homes in Panther Creek. A portion of the Village borders the w...

The lush wooded area of The Woodlands is one of those area's that seems to be the perfect place to raise a family!     When relocating within The Woodlands a few years ago I was looking for a kid friendly neighborhood where children could ride their bikes, play outside with friends and enjoy a quality of life that seems so hard to find these days! Fortunately we found not only the perfect neighborhood but also a very friendly cul-de-sac street.  For the past 6 years our street does a dinner together the night of Halloween.  Everyone brings something to eat and we have all the bowls of candy out front of the house (saving the trick-or-treaters the time of going door to door on our street).

AN INTRODUCTION TO THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS If you have never visited The Woodlands, Texas it is hard to comprehend how difficult and confusing driving through our community is.  The Woodlands is a premier master planned community with the purpose of preserving the beautiful forest that we live in while creating a place to live and work. In order to achieve this balance of homes, businesses and trees, a great deal of planning had to take place before the first road was cut through.  The developers did a fantastic job of designing a community where our trees thrive and give us the look of living in a forest. For new people to the area, driving through can be daunting.  Having the buffer of trees does make it difficult to navigate.  Of course the GPS systems have helped tremendously! The Wood...

Have you ever noticed how some areas appear to be insulated from all of the problems of life?  One such area is the Woodlands. Located in beautiful wooded Montgomery County just north of the sprawling Houston metroplex, the area enjoys lower sales taxes and is still expanding in all directions.   This is a master planned community.  It was one of the first i ever heard of and was the brain child of  developer George Mitchell.  Mitchell later sold the huge and phenomenally popular area to Crescent corporation who has continued to expand the dream. Out of a densely wooded forest, unique neighborhoods were carved.  Roads were developed, that lead to everything a resident might desire.  Mega shopping areas evolved complete with malls, restaurants and essentials.  Major companies relocated a...

Jonah David I am overjoyed to announce that I am now a full-fledged daddy! My wife and I welcomed our little boy Jonah David into the world this past Friday, Oct. 21st. Born at home by water birth with the help of two skilled and caring midwives, Jonah's first experience of the world was the comfort and peace of his family dwelling. Birth Weight/Length: 8.5 oz./21 1/2 inches. He and Momma are well, and we are all settling into a good routine. So far I've learned to change his diapers, dress him, calm him down, rock him to sleep, and burp him. There's a lot more to learn yet! Because I often work from home, Jonah will have early opportunity to begin his real estate apprenticeship if he ever feels so inclined. :-D Perhaps he'll one day join us on ActiveRain.

ANN TAYLOR OPENS IN MARKET STREET ~ THE WOODLANDS, TX Market Street in The Woodlands, Texas now has a brand new Ann Taylor store!  This store was previously located in The Woodlands Mall and has relocated to Market Street.  Market Street is the perfect venue for this classic-style clothing concept.  Along with the other high-end retailers, Ann Taylor fits right in. The store opened with a soft opening last Thursday night.  I attended the opening and was greeted by a delightfully friendly staff and of course some gorgeous clothes!  The store is absolutely beautiful inside with a very modern, sleek yet sophisticated decor. As an avid Ann Taylor customer, I am thrilled with the new location.  Although it is located near my office, this makes it very convenient for me.  Although I will have...
