Has it been nearly 30-years since the Woodlands started the annual Lighting of the Doves Festival? 28th ANNUAL LIGHTING OF THE DOVES ~ THE WOODLANDS, TX ~ NOVEMBER 30, 2010   I can hardly believe that this will be the 28th year for the Lighting of the Doves!  I have been in this area for over 20 years and remember when this event was in its infancy and was held before there was an overpass of Woodlands Parkway over Grogan's Mill. The original Lighting of the Doves took place right at the site where the overpass now goes crosses.  The event was small and brought out the local school bands and cheerleaders.  Today the event brings in thousands of visitors and there are many, many local performances from high school and junior high bands, choirs, dance groups, cheerleaders and more!  The current event now runs from early afternoon until 9 p.m. culminating in the actual lighting ceremony...
