One of the new places that a fellow friend in the business pointed out to me that has been flooding with business is the city of McKinney located in Collin County, Texas.  I know it has attracted a lot of attention with being the nation's fastest growing city from 2000 to 2003 and again in 2006, but the market for homes lately in McKinney has grown even more for me.  What a great city!

Have you been wondering just how these homes would compare to the traditional homes that McKinney has seen in the last decade? Let me tell you this is a brand new product and a breath of fresh air for McKinney Real Estate. Homes range in size from 2073-3017 square feet. All are 3 bedroom homes, one has 1.5 baths, but others have at least 2.5 baths. Styles range from Tudor, to Greek Revival to Victorian to Craftsman. Yes, I'm being serious. Down Payment Assistance is saving the day for so many potential home buyers, and in turn is relieving many new home builders and home sellers. With the local market taking a pause and trying to catche it's breathe, Down Payment Assistance has breathed a new life for many.I've helped so many clients save thousands of dollars by turning to a Down Payment Assistance program, instead of using their own savings to purchase their new homes. New homes, pre-existing homes, 3, 4, and 5 bedroom homes, some with pools, some on acreage, some that are townhomes or condos. Some were foreclosures and others were just amazing deals where the buyers saved lots of money. Down Payment Assistance is NOT credit driven. However, you can not presently be in default on your current cred...

Today I had the pleasure of helping one of my clients purchase a home in one of my favorite new Stonebridge Ranch communities - Aspendale. Aspendale features homes from the $240's on up, between 2100-3200 square feet. Amy Brownlee, the sales person for David Weekley, was an absolute professional and so wonderful to work with. She's been with David Weekley for over 8 years and knows her stuff. It really makes a difference when you have such an experienced sales person to deal with (fellow REALTORS, you can back me on that!). One of the reasons David Weekley has such a great track record, in my opinion, is for their smart floorplans. Walk into any Weekley home and you will see what I mean. Open and bright floorplans, with little wasted spaces. Aspendale offers 10 floorplans for buyers to ...

Who knew that McKinney would attract so many young families, professionals and newlyweds with such force?  As McKinney continues to grow at such a rapid speed, more and more twenty and thirty-something homebuyers are flocking to the tree lined streets of our "boutique community."It's actually very exciting, being a thirty-something, myself, living in this small town that actually has a night life.  And a cultural bearing as well.  McKinney businesses are learning that this isn't the tiny little town that it used to be.  And they are keeping up with what it takes to attract the young professionals and newcomers to our area.  The Historic Downtown McKinney square boasts boutique shopping, fine dining, art galleries, tapas bars, pubs and coffee spots for the old and young alike.Fashion is ...

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed.  Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle; when the sun comes up, you'd better be running. This anonymous quote is what gets me going everyday.  I thought I would share it some other Real Estate Professionals that are wading their way through this jungle of a market.  Keep your head up, it's all mind over matter!!

I recently wrote a post about McKinney opening it's 5th Middle School for 2008-09 - Cockrill Middle School. With the new school comes controversy - the zoning. If you look at the map below, you will notice that areas EAST of 75 will need to be bused across town to the WEST side and vice versa. WHY? To encourage DIVERSITY? I think the letter posted on the petition website sums it up very nicely. This is what was posted to a petition website:To:  MISD Board How do you feel about the 2008 Proposed Middle School redistricting? We want neighborhood schools in McKinney. Our children are not a socio-economic experiment. We want logical feeder schools so that children can build strong relationships that build communities. We want access to our local schools, anyone is welcome to attend them but ...

I come from a diverse religous back ground, so I am sensitive to try not to offend people of different religions.  I want my clients  to know that I am a christien, even if they are not.  The two ways I subtly include God is my phone message says"Have a blessed day!" at the end.  I have always tried to work as little as possible on Sunday, but sometimes I just can't get out of it, so if someone wants to see homes on Sunday I tell them that I go to church and have lunch with them and I can show them homes after that around 2pm.

Next year McKinney will open it's doors to the district's 5th Middle School - Cockrill Middle School. What this means to many residents and parents is that the school zones will once again be playing musical chairs. There will be 2 meetings about the new zoning for the public. The first is tonight, February 11 at 6 pm at Faubion Middle School. The second meeting is Wed. Feb. 13 at Dowell Middle School.
