Even if you’re afraid of sharks, you can have fun learning about them this week at the Kemah Boardwalk. Shark Week in Kemah lasts through Saturday, Aug. 4, and there are plenty of activities to keep you busy.     There are shark arts and crafts, and face painting for the kids, as well as a shark scavenger hunt. And if you like playing the games on the boardwalk, they all have shark prizes to give away.   If you eat at the Aquarium Restaurant, you can enjoy behind the scene tours and shark feedings in the big tanks. There is even a touch tank for those who are brave enough to touch a shark! Annual Christmas Boat Parade Dec 11th 2011                                          Make plans now to attend the annual Kemah boat parade at the Boardwalk.  Get there early to get a spot with a view, there are usually more than 100,000 people that attend.  There are said to be over a 100 boats making their way from Clear Lake, South Shore Harbor, and Nassau Bay Lagoon all decorated with lights, decorations, music, and more, including some bead throwing (around 7pm) and of course Santa Claus!  Come early to have dinner, and get a window seat upstairs at one of the many restaurants to watch the boat lane parade. That's right ABC's Extreme Make Over Home Edition hit Kemah Texas last week as it's 7th season of helping needy families rolls on. According to my inside source (my Mom and one of the volunteers) the episode is this seasons 2 hour finale and helps a family with 9 adopted special needs kids that is recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Ike. They deserving family was recently living in a 20 foot trailer...all 11 of them! Thanks to Ty Pennington and his gang of 1,500+ volunteers that included actress Jessica Alba, members of the Houston Texans and of course my parents the home was finished on time and true to what you see on television they really did have to "MOVE THAT BUS"! Summer is quickly approaching and many families will be planning out their summer vacations. Kemah is a small city of just under 3,000 that lies between Houston and Galveston. Less than 200 miles from the Austin area, it makes a great vacation destination. The most popular destination in Kemah is the Boardwalk; it is located on Galveston Bay. When hurricane Ike hit the gulf coast, much of the boardwalk was destroyed. Over the past year, it has been rebuilt and is open for business. The first concert of the "Rock the Dock" series will start May 7th on the Kemah boardwalk. The concert starts at 6:30 until 10:15.
