2016 Katy Community Thanksgiving Dinner This Community Thanksgiving Dinner is another in a long line of local community traditions in Katy Texas being held for the benefit of the less fortunate individuals living in the community. This year’s dinner is being held on Thursday November 24, 2016 or Thanksgiving Day at the First Baptist Church which is located at 600 Pin Oak Road in Katy. The dinner will start at 11AM and last until 1 PM. I am posting this information as a surprising number of folks who might want to donate time and or money plus folks who need a good meal never hear about this great local event.  Last year's dinner served over 1,200 hungry folks and it is expected that number will grow once again this year as it has each year in the past. Katy Tigers Football Wins both State and National Championship The Katy Tigers High School Football team won its Eighth State of Texas Championship this past Saturday when they beat Lake Travis ( Austin area) 34-7 for the 6A Division 2 Championship.  School size ( students) determines the Division where a team plays. Both Teams came into this Championship game with identical 15-0 records. We watched the game for 3 quarters but went to bed as we had to get early the next morning. At that point Katy Tigers were winning 17-7 and Lake Travis was still in the game. Health & Fitness #4 - Yoga Class at Katy Branch Library       The Katy Branch Library is holding a Yoga class ( you read this correctly.. Yoga) on Saturday March 7, 2015. The Yoga class starts at 2:30 PM and lasts until 4:30 PM. The class will be taught by a volunteer instructor. Its purpose is to teach relaxing and stretching plus i am guessing this class is a beginners session. This class will be held in the Library’s Meeting Room. All participants need to bring their own yoga mat and water. Adults only are invited to attend. The Library suggests you do not eat for 2-3 hours prior to the class starting.   I have never heard of a Yoga class being held at a local Library before and the class is free of charge. Katy ISD FFA Hosts Annual Livestock Show and Rodeo Feb 2015   Katy ISD Future Farmers of America (FFA) are hosting the 72 nd  annual livestock show, rodeo and parade starting on Thursday February 19, 2015 and running through Saturday February 21, 2015. Pro Rodeo events will be seen each evening. The Rodeo will be held at the Fairgrounds at interstate I-10 and FM 1463 right next to the Merrell Center in Katy TX. Here is an opportunity to see Pro Rodeo up close, very personal and in Katy.
