Welcome to 2014! Happy New Year!     I  hope your new year is beginning with good health, a fine job, loyal friends, and amazing family! Last year saw a remarkable resurgence in the real estate market in the Fort Worth area. We went from a buyer's market in early January to a sizzling seller's market before summer. Multiple offers were rampant in some neighborhoods as buyers focused in on beautifully updated and presented homes. We even saw some multi-offer situations for fix it homes with great potential. Late summer and early fall brought additional serious buyers out. Many were able to find homes and get settled in time for the holidays. Others are arranging for moving trucks in the next few weeks. While it's true great weather helps motivate home shopping, even ice storms couldn't ...

It's bluebonnet time in Texas!                                                      You can see patches of bluebonnets along the highways in the Dallas Fort Worth area, but to really get the goods, head south. Head toward Ennis for spectacular views. Further west, driving along Hwy 291 yields some pretty vistas. Where have you seen bluebonnets in the area?

My friend and client, Becky, has a new place to call home. We started looking several weeks ago for a new place for her horses to live. ‘We are looking for a place where the horses and goats will be happy, I’ll be happy anywhere,’ she said.    We found a gorgeous house with beautiful living space, a sparkling pool, and enough pasture for the horses and goats to roam and graze. All it needs is an airy stable to be complete. Becky and her daughter are happily discussing barn building plans with various contractors. Construction will begin as soon as next week.    Enjoy your new home adventures, Becky. I enjoyed being part of the process!

Go Pro   If you are a football fan, you’ve heard the howls of outrage over the ‘replacement’ refs this season. Especially after the blown call in Monday night’s game between the Packers and Seahawks. Touchdown? Not a touchdown? The blown call on the last play of the game cost the Packers the game.   All around me, I’m hearing these replacements are part time guys brought in during the labor dispute between the NFL and the referee’s union. Most of these guys are accountants, attorneys, or civil engineers in real life. Being an NFL ref is not their career—they lack training, experience, and skill.   This is exactly the same reason a seller should use a licensed and trained real estate agent and not try to sell by owner. I would especially not try to buy without an agent. (And, yes, in my ...

Six Simple Low Cost Ways to Prepare Your Haslet Home for Market Haslet Homes for Sale, Fort Worth Homes for Sale   You’ve been thinking about putting your Haslet, Keller, or Fort Worth home on the market for a little while now. Here are a few tips for getting your home ready for a new owner. 1. Freshen the curb appeal. Yes, it is true. There are buyers out there who will not view the interior of your home if they don’t find the exterior appealing. Paint the front door a rich, glossy color. Add colorful annuals to pots and flowerbeds. If it’s getting too late in the season for that, add colorful décor instead. Pumpkins, evergreens, cute or clever décor. Nothing too scary or too personal. 2. Replace every burned out light bulb in your home. Yes, every one knows how easy it is to change o...

Ahhhhhh FALL…  The calendar may not say it yet, but FALL has come to north Texas. Cooler temps (remember last year? We were still in the triple digits…) salted caramel mocha’s at Starbucks, and high school football games. Fall is a wonderful time to spiff up the outside of your home before winter sets in.   1. Plant a tree. NOW is the perfect time to plant a shade or fruit tree in north Texas. The tree will have all winter to establish a few roots before next summer’s heat blast.   2. Landscape. Makeover your landscape with fresh young shrubs and ornamental plants. Wait until next spring to put in a grassy lawn.   3. Add mulch to all the flowerbeds.   4. Power wash or repaint the trim and doors on your home.   5. Clean the gutters.   6. Repair fences and gates. Does your dog need a ne...
