This young couple is local to Floresville and this young lady has had her own online business selling for a couple of years. Their parents are teaching them the skills to succeed in life. So come out and enjoy the Goober games but please stop by their booth and see what they have to offer. Support our local vendors and enjoy the Peanut Festival activities.Several years ago when we were viewing raw land and they had been shopping earlier for raw materials, she was so proud to show me what she produces to sell on her family's online shopping site.  So proud of her parents as they are teaching all of their children how to thrive in this economy at an early age.  Young entrepreneurs at heart now.

The Texas state flower is the Bluebonnet which appears every spring.  They blanket the roadways and are a protected species.  With it comes buttercups, Indian pinks and other spring flowers.  The amount of flowers will vary year to year and this year did not have a bountiful crop.It is when the families bring out their children to take pictures in the flowers.  You will see many, many pictures of children in the flowers of that spring.  Some even get their pets into the action.Back in the 80s we had a snow cover and the bluebonnets that year were the best.  Mom said it was the cold covering during the snow that affected the crop.  So when it snowed and remained on the ground back in our winter of 2021,  I was excited because I thought we would have a wonderful crop of spring flowers.  D...

Fleas?   Dogs and cats both fight them every year.  It is almost that time of year again. We have found that benefical nematodes work very well.   A popular Saturday morning talk show in San Antonio is done by Bob Webster who owns the Shades of Green nursery on W Sunset.  When we first tried Beneficial Nematodes, I thought it was a lie.  Well, 2 weeks later and NO fleas in our yard.  For the last 20 years it has pretty much remained that way unless our cats decide to visit neighbors.  Then we have to treat because the cats' treatment doesn't always work. The other item that we use is Diatomaceous Earth which is a white powder that can be spread out.  When the fleas, roaches and other critters walk through it, it dries out their bodies and they die. And it is safe for people and animals.  ...

Floresville Tx has the Extreme Home Makeover -- last show to shown in December 2012   Well, went out to the site today.  They are moving along.  Unveiling is Saturday, January 21.   We in Floresville, TX are having a ball watching this home go up.  The roads are busy with traffic, coming and going.    While the address is Floresville, the location is in the Stockdale, Tx school district so I imagine the Stockdale schools are all abuzz also. Extreme Home Makeover is in Floresville, TX. Everyone was so excited to learn that Extreme Home Makeover was planning their last project to air here in Floresville, TX.   THEN,  when I was told who it was to honor I was even more excited.  This soldier was badly wounded in Iraq.  His name is Shilo Harris and he has a wonderful family behind him.  His wife Kathreyn and his children. The reason this is so special for me is that my first listing in  Floresville was the home that Shilo & Kathreyn bought.  While I was not the buyers agent but the listing agent, I did get to meet them and as you go through the contract period you learn something of both your client and the other agent's clients.    My seller Randy has become someone I consider to be a great person and a friend.  Shilo and his...

The Wilson County Historical Society decided to have an old fashioned opry with country and gospel music on November 3, 2011. The turnout was great and good fun was had by all. We saw some of the dancing that we had seen in our younger days as many turned out on the dance floor. Some even did the polka. The night was filled with music by “Playin’ to Win”, Elizabeth Tilley, Archie Pawelek, “Two and a Half Angels”, Perry and Paula Metheny with the Methany Brothers Band, 14 year old Sierra Cecil, Leon Payne, Jr (son of the famous country star and songwriter Leon Payne, Sr...

Yesterday, I heard a noise that I had not heard in a long time. It was a lawnmower hard at work.  Astounding.  It is for us in South Texas as we have been so drought plagued this year we have not had to mow our lawns in weeks.  While that may be a good thing, the looks of the lawns is not.  Most are dying and have become sparse.  So when it rained last week it was a very welcome sight for all of us.    Then the sound of lawnmowers began again.  We hope that sound continues a lot in the future because we NEED the RAIN so badly. Wilson and all the surrounding counties are being plagued by the lack of rain in the number of fires that are occurring.  The roads are dotted with burned patches.  With every burned patch you see there is a story.   Someone was careless and started a fire.  Then ...
