Stay Safe in El Paso Texas New Home Buyer Texas Credit $8000   For those of you who think that the tax credit was gone. Look again an El Paso Tx real estate company has come up with a wonderful program that is similar to the Tax Credit Program except this program will not expired until 2015. The way it works is simple as long as you are buying a house and Do Not have a working contract or Have made an offer on your next home purchase you qualify to get up $8000. As of April 2010 the Tax buyer credit expired and with it went all hype about buyer getting that extra incentive when buying a home. Since then Washington Group Real Estate has taken over. Just to clarify the homebuyer Texas credit for is still available to buyers. Four weeks after closing you should be receiving a check in the...

Hiking the Franklin Mountains is a very affordable weekend activity.  When you access the park, the cost is $4 a person. Be sure to take plenty of water with you. At least 3 liters a person if you are going to hike Mount Franklin North. As always, be cautious of snakes and watch your step. When you are standing almost 3,000 ft above El Paso, be proud…you are at one of the highest points in the state of Texas. Follow the link for pictures and more information about the largest urban park in United States.

With around $80 million in construction funds, look for an expansion of Loop 375/TransMountain road on El Paso's West Side. With this expansion, roads will be widened from 2 lanes to four lanes along with elevated roadways at intersections. Read more about the widening of El Paso's Loop 375 here

Who says the real estate market in El Paso is bad? This week I have been working with 3 buyers- 2 from out of town and one in town buyer. The first buyer is a military doctor being transferred to Ft Bliss from Hawaii-that must have been a shock! He was going to rent but decided that he could have a mortgage payment close to what he would have paid in rent and bought a brand new home and we should close (with a local lender) by the end of the month. The second couple is moving from the east part of the state and decided that living in El Paso close to family was important to them. They will be back next week becasue the hubby got called back into work and they had to go back home for a few days. The 3rd couple lives in El Paso already and does not have to sell thier home first so they ar...

El Paso's downtown was once a bustling center for commerce, nightlife, and living.  Then the suburbs came into play and like many other cities around the United States, the once heart of the city was forgotten.  Recently, there has been development going on in the new "entertainment" district, "government" district, and other parts of El Paso's downtown.  The first urban living space was finished a few months ago in what is now classified as the government district...(federal courthouse, county courthouse, etc)  A group of brothers bought the building and took that risky first step in trying to create a livable downtown.  I made the following two videos during the construction phase to share with others the development of downtown El Paso.

El Paso is home to many great local eateries. One of my favorites is Located in downtown on 212 W. Overland. El Pisto is the name and making great food is their game.  It can be an easy place to miss if you aren’t looking for it closely but you will happy once you discover it....follow the smell! I recommend their picadillo tacos, chicken tacos, stacked enchiladas, fish tacos, homemade churros and the hamburger (those are all of the dishes I have tried). If you get a chance, grab some lunch or dinner at El Pisto. If you are partying downtown, they open up for breakfast from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Saturday & Sunday. Also, I hear they offer a Sunday Brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. I haven't been but it is supposedly pretty good. For more info, visit their website at www.elpisto-ep.c...

I have never been able to see so far until I moved out here to El Paso. A few minutes of meditation while looking out towards the horizon can put the mind and body in sync. Sometimes I use the natural sounds around me and other times I will put on the headphones. When you find an area that can motivate, inspire, and cause reflection, you know a special place has been found. To those who have not taken advantage of the gift that is available to you 24/7, I suggest you give it a try.it might just help you find the answer to that question you haven’t been able to answer for weeks, months, or years. We must realize that we are but a small piece of this place we call the world, but despite this, we have also been given the ability to influence, motivate, and inspire those around us in this c...

It's amazing how bombarded we have become over the last few months with prospective home buyers wanting to contact us in regards to purchasing homes in the El Paso area. We all know that the Home Buyers Credit is due to expire very soon, and due to this a lot of people are scrambling to get in contact with an aggressive buyers agent. A good amount of these people need assistance now, to be able to buy their homes as soon as possible. These people truly need an agent whom has the time and experience to respond to these inquiries. We have learned that persistence has proven to pay dividends with these inquiring families and individuals. If you are serious about having the ability to increase the amount of prospective home buyers you contact each month, we would love the chance to talk to ...

A lot of us live & conduct 90% of our business in our cars.  This past week, Oprah aired a show on the dangers of texting behind the wheel.  She's urging everyone to give up texting while driving. The show had families who had members that were killed in accidents due to distracted drivers who were either texting or talking on the phone. In a later episode, celebrity Holly Robinson-Peete admitted she would consistently text or talk on the phone while driving. She and her daughter created a bumper sticker that stated "Honk if you love Jesus -- TEXT if you want to meet him"   I watched the episode & found it so powerful & it really made an impact on me.  I hope it does the same for you.  Click on link to watch the episode. http://www.oprah.com/oprahshow/Watch-the-Full-Hour-Americas-Ne...

As the year draws to an end, I am grateful that our market has not been as terrible as other areas of the country. Our unemployment rate is at about 9.5% and that is just a little bit higher than the state of Texas.Home sales are not bad, considering what is happening across the country. November stats were even better than Octobers' with sales being almost 150 more in November than the same time in 2008!! How about that, way to go El Paso.I think that 2010 will be a good year for Real Estate in El Paso, TX because I feel that interest rates will remain low and after talking to one of the lenders that I like to use, even investor loans are decent. You can get a great rate with only 20% down and with rates low your cash flow possibilities are even better. For home purchases the extended t...

The real estate market in El Paso, TXis humming right along. Interest rates are still low and there seems to be alot more buyers out there right now. El Paso and most of Texas is not in the slump (thank goodness) that alot of parts of the rest of the country are in currently. Prices are remaining pretty steady and most homes (if priced correctly from the beginning) are selling pretty close to list price (96-98%) because sellers are offering to help buyers with closing costs. There is still time for first time buyers or those who have not bought a home in the past 3 years to get into a home and be eligible for the tax credit. Most of our buyers still come from our web site but we still get referrals from past clients and from other agents throughout the country that we have met at conven...

Preventive maintenance can mean the difference between maintaining the value in your home or depleting the equity you might have gained; keeping hard earned cash in your pocket, or throwing it into the wind with an unnecessary or unexpected expense. The best way to help maintain any appreciation and protect your investment is to do minor routine tasks, proactively and systematically, to help keep the home operating and functioning normally. Avoiding major operating malfunctions or complete failures can easily be avoided if homeowners take just a few minutes to do some routine minor household tasks. Many of these items can be done by the homeowner, cutting costs significantly, although the cost of hiring a professional is usually better than not performing the maintenance at all. Having ...
