Driftwood is a fantastic little town on the edge of south Austin. Nestled amongst the Austin hill country, out in the middle of what seems like nowhere is the wonderful Trattoria Lisina Italian Restaurant. Tattoria means an informal, family owned restaurant as is common in Italy. Lisina is named for his wife Lisa, who is an intragral part of his business. First you see the vineyards and then the imposing two story height limestone building. The food, service and atmosphere are all spectacular. Did they buy the wrong house while looking at Austin TX Homes for Sale? Funny story... I had a closing today where the buyers didn't actually remember what the house looked like.  They came into town back in June and we saw 27 houses over two days.  This house was not their first choice, nor their second or third choice home. However, the cards that fell into play, put this house as their choice.  I negotiated an awesome deal for them, still with them not remembering the house. I did the walk through for them, since they were out of town, and I took a lot of pictures to send them.  They saw a couple of things that seemed familar, but not really.  I tried and tried to explain the house, but they kept telling me they trusted me.   Did you know that animals like to congregate at a salt lick? This phenomenon is what sparked Hisako and her late husband Thurman Roberts to come up with the name "Salt Lick" for their BBQ restaurant in Driftwood, Texas.  If you are ever in or around Austin you must take the 30-40 minutes it takes to drive out in the country to see this bright spot in Texas! This is a Willie Nelson type atmosphere that everyone must experience at least once in a lifetime (or many times as it is fun)!!  Out in the middle of nowhere Texans flock from every direction to eat the finger lickin' good BBQ.     They have police to direct traffic in and out to help control the crowds.  It's a dry county (can you believe that?) so you have to bring your own beer and wine (not exactly a martini place)!          ... 02/11/2009
