Decatur is a growing city just north of Fort Worth and North West of Dallas is fast becoming a place for Metroplex Commuters to live.Decatur is the County Seat of Wise County. Decatur is named after Commodore Stephen Decatur, Jr. He was an American Naval Officer notable for his heroism in actions at Tripoli, Libya in the Barbary Wars and in the War of 1812. Wise County was established in 1856. A cant phrase of gamblers is "Eighter from Decatur, County Seat of Wise" it is a phase that according to local tradition was coined by a railway construction worker in the 1882. You may still here that phrase at dice tables around the world.
