Aptly dubbed "The Mixmaster" many years ago, the intersection of I-35 and I-30, in downtown Dallas, changed this morning. Prior to this morning, drivers experienced cars crossing multiple lanes of southbound traffic to exit from I-35 to I-30.  For years, veterans of this route have geared up miles back for unsuspecting drivers who realized at the last moment that they had to cross four lanes of heavy traffic to access the exit ramp to I-30.   This area has notably been one of the greatest traffic issues in Dallas for decades.   Hurray!  Today the southbound exit from I-35 to westbound I-30 that has changed, as part of the new "Horseshoe Project.  Drivers now exit southbound I-35 by turning right onto I-30.  More positive changes are in the works. Check out the "Horseshoe Project"

This weekend is the perfect opportunity to Explore Deep Ellum.  Crowdus Street, between Elm Street and Main Street, has become a "Pop-Up Park."  This welcome gathering space will remain in place through May 2, 2015, to draw attention to the growing interest in creating urban parks. Programming at the Crowdus Street Pop-Up Park will include live music, evening films and delicious food. The film Napoleon Dynamite, will be shown on Thursday evening.  For a complete schedule of events visit the Crowdus Park "Pop-Up-Plaza" Facebook page. While you are walking around Deep Ellum, drop by Stonedeck Pizza, one of my favorite pizza restaurants for a slice or a whole pie. You won't be disappointed!  The Staff is as amazing as the pizza!

I am so excited to see development and rejuvenation in many parts of Dallas that have seen shadows for years. Much of East Dallas is going through expansion and growth, with new construction, rehab, and eliminating the riff-raff that tends to occur over years of neglect and a turned eye. The area between Dallas City Hall and Deep Ellum has been one of those lucky spots, with new money coming in to facilitate face-lifts - and that includes the newly re-opened Farmer's Market 'Shed #1'... or what is now called "The Shed." Interestingly, DF Market Holdings purchased the Farmer's Market acreage from the City of Dallas, with plans to build mixed-use development including residential, restaurants and retail areas at a future date. The City of Dallas, however, retained Shed #1, and is leasing ...
