Realtors don’t like to use photos of the toilet in bathroom shots on the MLS. It’s a bit tacky. But if there’s no way to get around the toilet shot, you might as well have fun with it.   When I saw this snowman on the potty at a home on the Alvin Christmas Tour of Homes, I didn’t know quite what to think. But I finally decided it was a pretty cute way of discouraging people on the tour from using the restroom, and it could be a cute way to cover up the toilet in a bathroom photo for the MLS.   What do you think?

The Wreath of Christmas! I recently attended the Alvin Christmas Home Tour. One thing each home had in common were the Christmas Wreaths. Some of the homes had a traditional wreath while others just out did themselves. The first stop on the tour was The Victorian Home which had the traditional wreath on the front door. I so wish I had taken a better picture of the elaborate wood carved door as it was a work of art. The Victorian home also had a half bath with a bench that sported a Wreath on a bench. I thought that was rather clever. The Lake Side Home was by far my favorite. I may have to write a post on this home alone! I gave them names they were so pretty. PRETTY IN PINK  I  I will just show you the pictures of the wreaths in this home. PINK FRECKLES SNOWMEN WORKING I hope you have...

It's that time of year again to get out the stockings, put up the tree, and mail that special Christmas letter to Santa! From now until December 18, The Alvin Parks and Recreation Department will have special boxes in front of HEB and Kroger that get delivered to the big man himself. Make sure to get your letter ready and in the mail box in time for Santa to read it. Just address your letter to Santa Clause C/O the North Pole, and you should receive a response back in time for Christmas. Happy Holidays!

I saw Santa’s new ride parked in front of one of the homes on the Alvin Christmas Home Tour today. Check out this cool car that Santa is driving now!     Santa had a few presents in the trunk of his new car. He told me he was delivering some gifts a little early this year because he heard that some kiddos needed some new coats before Christmas.     Even though Santa’s new car is just too cool, he told me that he will still be using his sleigh on Christmas Eve because it goes much faster than his new car.     Better watch out! Santa Claus is driving through town!

This was the first Saturday in quite a while that I actually didn’t have any scheduled appointments! It was a good thing, because today I had to do all of my baking for the Alvin Christmas Tour of Homes bake sale. I actually don’t like baking, so every year I dread the day before the home tour when I have to bake all day. But once it’s all done, I feel good that the proceeds go to worthy causes. The Tour of Homes is being held Sunday in Alvin, starting at 1 p.m. You can get tickets at the Alvin Train Depot and shop for some baked goodies while you are there! I will be dropping off my baked goods at the Train Depot around noon, and then I’ll head over to work at one of the homes. The home tour is a lot of fun. All of the homes are beautifully decorated for Christmas and you can get a l...

The annual Delta Delta Christmas Tour of Homes will be held Sunday, Dec. 2, from 1-5 p.m. in Alvin, TX. Every year I have the privilege of working the home tour, and this year you’ll find me there again, helping to direct people through one of the beautiful homes on the tour. There are five stops on the home tour, and the best place to start is at the historic Alvin Train Depot at 121 E. Willis Street. The Keep Alvin Beautiful Committee will sponsor an open house at the depot and there will be baked goods and craft items available to purchase. You can also purchase your tour tickets at the depot. The four homes open for touring are the Urick home at 2822 CR 145, the Bordelon home at 404 South Beauregard, the Owen home at 1123 CR 136-A, and the Wennerstrom home at 1088 Bethany Lane. Al...

There are currently seven homes in Alvin for lease. They are priced from $900.00 to $1,475.00; each has 3 bedrooms except for one. The square footage starts at 944 with the largest one at 1,611-square feet. All have two full bathrooms except for one. Four of the rentals are in newer residential subdivisions. The others are located in beautifully kept older residential areas. Although there are many rental homes in Alvin they are rarely vacant. It has been my experience that there are almost always at least seven homes for lease. These homes don’t last long without on the market. So if you are looking for a lease in Alvin be sure to call me today!

It was such a beautiful day today. I was in the Alvin area and decided to take a lunch break at the new Skate Park recently constructed by the Parks Department. Dan Kelinski, Park Director did a great job taking bids for this project and overseeing its construction. There were many skaters out there at lunch time and that portion of the park was very busy!   The Parks and Recreation Department coordinates all activities year round for both adult activities and youth sports. In addition they help in the organization of any special events that may take place in the city. This department is also in charge of all the city buildings, lawn and city easement maintenance, construction of new parks and their maintenance. Alvin's Parks and Recreation Department has one of the largest Community S...

MUSTANG CROSSING RESIDENTIAL SUBDIVISON  ALVIN TEXAS   Good news for Brighton Homes! They are down to their last two residential lots for new home construction in Mustang Crossing located in Alvin Texas! This is bad news for area Realtors® as this subdivision is one of the favorites for people wanting to relocate to Alvin. I recently met with Brighton representatives who have joined with the land owners and will finish completing the infrastructure of this subdivision. This is good news for Realtors® and buyers alike as Brighton will then purchase the lots in Section Four. This will provide 60 lots for new home construction in this Subdivision. If you are looking for a new home in Mustang Crossing in Alvin Texas please call me to be your Realtor® representing your best interest!

A new commercial business moved into Alvin.  This new business is called UV County. UV Country moved to Alvin Texas in January of this year, by purchasing a 20,000 square-foot facility on eight acres located on Bypass 35 at FM 528. You may be asking yourself what UV stands for.  It is the acronym for Utility Vehicle.  Years ago the only way of getting around large pieces of property was with a jeep or a truck. Now with truck and gas prices sky-rocketing it is more affordable to buy a UV. UV’s can be customized to meet the client’s needs. If you are a hunter you may use ATV’s to hunt the many acres to catch your prey. UV County also provides many ATV’s to choose from and can also be customized to meet your every hunting need. According the website, “UV Country specializes in sales, parts...

I found a tree….I found a tree… O Christmas Tree! Yes I am excited I finally found a tree. I have been really busy and have not had time to do a good tree hunt. I called several places today to no avail. What I really wanted was a flocked artificial or a real tree and my friend who is a Fire Marshal told me where to go get an artificial one. She is really against using real trees because it is such a fire hazard. However, they were all sold out. The rest just looked so cheap at an expense price. Tonight I went to HOME DEPOT and they had a nice 7’ tree. A nice lady was summoned from the back to come help me and my husband with it. She whipped into the outside garden area and dragged the tree to have its bottom trunk get a fresh cut. She was so sweet and cut off some of the lower limbs w...
