  Finally we are seeing glimmers of light that things are picking up. I know I am busier. Our Middle TN news media reports that Williamson County, where Franklin is located, is said to be #3 among the top 10 counties for job growth. Franklin and Brentwood are active areas just south of Nashville proper.  Columbia and Spring Hill, where I live and primarily work is just south of Franklin and Nashville. A lot of people choose to live here and commute north to work. OK, it is the first cool snap of the year and you go to turn the heat on and you wait and wait and wait.  It does nothing and your first thought is that the system is broken.  So what should you do? Well if you only have gas heat and an electric water heater (like I do) the first thing you want to do is to go and take a look at the gas meter to see if it has been turned off!  I know, you are thinking that this only happens if you do not pay your bill.  Well, normally that it true, but it could have also been turned off by one of your neighbors kids....  Yep, it is the prank that never grows old unless you are on the receiving end.  If you know for sure the gas is on then call a qualified HVAC contractor! GM is putting 483 UAW union workers back to work in Spring Hill soon, as well as investing $483 million dollars in the plant (it's the most modern they have already). The plant will be used to build the next generation of 4 cylinder engines used in small SUV's and cars. General Motors idled the vehicle assembly line in Spring Hill in November 2008 after deciding to transfer production of the Chevrolet Traverse to a plant in Lansing, Mich. The Spring Hill Mayor and Board of Aldermen voted to not increase property taxes this year. The Mayor, Michael Dinwiddie has recommended a 20 percent increase over the current tax. It is encouraging that the aldermen used better judgement and decided that increasing the tax burden on the residents during a recession wasn't something that the public wanted.  The current city property tax for Spring Hill equates to $150 per year for every $100,000 of property value, even though they make it look very complicated with the computations they use. For many years Spring Hill didn't have a city tax, and depended on fees charged to home builders to fund the city government. I have included a summary in my report for the past 15+ years, or ever since I started inspecting homes.  Why do I include a summary?  I guess the main reason is that if as a buyer I needed an inspection I would want to have a summary in my report.  As a buyer I would want to know the high points or the problems that were found during the inspection without sifting through pages and pages of a report.  I have always treated my clients like I would want to be treated, this could be why I have been successful in my business.  I'm trying to make the process as easy as it can be for my client, lord only knows that their head is spinning in all directions during the home buying process. New Schools in Spring Hill TN has lately been one of my most recent questions.  On the Williamson county side the following schools are schedule to open soon. Allendale in the new elementary school, and will open in the fall of 2010 Spring Station is the new middle school, also planned for opening in fall of 2010 The new high school is not named yet, and it will open in the fall of 2011. Allendale is located just west of Benevento and Spring Hill place. This was a rare find, as most of their habitat in Nashville and Brentwood has been displaced by development. Man's alleged ploy to lure kids in Spring Hill stirs fears By Harriet Vaughan • THE TENNESSEAN • March 8, 2010 SPRING HILL - Parents and police are on guard after reports of a man trying to lure children into his van in Spring Hill. Spring Hill police say that a man in a van has approached two kids with different ploys to try to get them into his vehicle. The first reported incident was at Longview Recreation Center on Feb. 13, according to Lt. Jason Fogle. That's when the driver of a white van reportedly approached a 13-year-old girl after her tennis lessons. The girl said the man invited her to sit in his van until her parents came to get her.
