One of the things I love about moving back to Tennessee is the bounty of local produce that shows up in the farmers markets and even in the Food City!  Everything just tastes sweeter in the summer!  Our favorite this year is grilled peaches and pears.. Well, I can no longer use one of my favorite selling points-- when people ask me to be sure that the properties they look at have a basement, so they can hunker down during the tornadoes, up to this point I have been able to say that "A tornado has never touched down in Sevier County"... and I was right!  But on April 27th just a little one (70 mph, 40 ft. wide) made a brief stop in Seymour, breaking the record that had stood since the beginning of recording of such things.  The thing is, with mountain property, "grade level" is where you walk in the front door-- but because homes are most often built into the slope of the mountain, you go downstairs to the "basement" but it's usally a walkout that just feels like the lower story, complete with windows, doors, patio etc. Not the dark su... 05/31/2011

Looks like we're getting some big investment in the area-- the owner of the Titanic attraction has recently purchased 3 theaters across the Parkway in the 2100 block, and will develop a $40 million project tentatively called "Water Magic" reminiscent of some of the interactive attractions at Epcot Center in Orlando.  The developer, John Joslyn, says the Titanic is attracting over 100,000 visitors per month, and he is optimistic about this new adventure.  He also has attractions in Branson, Mo. and Orlando, but chose Pigeon Forge as the area best suited for continued growth!   11/24/2010

  Selling Gatlinburg Real Estate and Pigeon Forge Real Estateevery day as I do, I know the importance to our market of pristine mountain views-- it's just what people want to see when they come to our area, and a huge selling feature for Gatlinburg homes for sale.  In the most recent edition of "Bear Paws"  the Great Smoky Mountains National Park air quality Specialist, reported that nitrogen oxide emissions in the Park were down 71% since 2004, and new scrubbers being installed on TVA power plants will bring sulphur dioxide levels down 90% in the near future.  Other changes from Environmental Protection rules will further reduce emissions from utilities agriculture and diesel equipment.  These moves to protect our most valuable resource-- the national park-- are taking us in the right... 11/20/2010

A Word About Sevierville... Most of the folks coming into town know a lot about Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg (and generally have a favorite of the two!) but I want to put in a plug for Sevierville.  Pronounced "SEVERE-VUHL" (LIKE A SEVERE COLD) this town is home to more than 17,000 permanent residents, and is so much more than just the driveway to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg:)  It's the county seat, so has the courthouse and a quaint little downtown area, but also some lovely neighborhoods that are quiet and out of the traffic.  Homes that are not in the city limits of Gatlinburg, Sevierville proper or Pigeon forge but are located in the county, will have a Sevierville address and a wide range of locations.  One advantage these homes have is that they are not subject to city taxes, alth... 11/03/2010
