The World's Largest Tree House Crossville, Tennessee is home to the world's largest tree house, or so it seems. This is a local hotspot for many people  and it is such an awesome sight to see.  I went and saw it for myself, it was simply breathtaking; not just because I climbed all nine flights of stairs either. This place was huge! It had many compartments in it that made it so unique. There is a humongous bell at the top to ring--if you can climb that high--along with a mini church on the third floor. This is not just any old church. It is equipped with a balcony, seats for a choir, an alter and even a stained glass window in the form of Jesus! This tree house is the coolest thing I have ever explored. I did a little research on what started this whole thing and USA today had a great...

Cumberland County is Rich in History I recently read a great article in Lifestyle magazine provided by the Crossville Chamber of Commerce and I found out a ton of information regarding the history of Cumberland County.  This area was actually discovered and can be traced all the way back to the 1750s.  Cumberland County was inhabited by many familiar Indian tribes including the Cherokee and Choctaw.  They traveled over the Cumberland Plateau and settled in many parts throughout the region.  Along with the many Indians that inhabited the plateau, many settlers passed though to travel westward, using trails, roads and highways that were made right down the middle of Cumberland County. One of the earliest settlements in Cumberland County is none other than Crab Orchard.  The name Crab Orch...

Buying a Foreclosed Property Now is the perfect time to buy a home.  There are many houses for sale in Tennessee and many of them are foreclosure properties.  In an economic downfall, like we are in now, it is beneficial to invest in these properties  Not only are they the cheaper way to go but in most cases, you get the same house a normal sale would have produced. Foreclosed properties do not mean the quality of the property is in any shape worse.  When a property is foreclosed, that just means the previous owners could not afford to keep it.  Every buyer is always looking for 'more bang for their buck' and a foreclosure property would be perfect.  There are many Crossville, TN homes  that are foreclosed that are a great buy.  Not only are homes foreclosed but there are also lots as w...

There is a little building located on the corner of the courthouse square that many have probably just drove by.  This building used to be the Tennessee Highway Patrol building for Cumberland County.  With a change of plans, this establishment has been named the new Visitors' Center and Natural Stone Museum.  This place will strengthen and build on the already established history of the Downtown Crossville area and allow visitors along with locals to learn more about the community.  This center was much needed because more and more people are coming to the Crossville area and now they have a place to help them get started.  The hours of operation for this new Visitors' Center are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pam DunnChoice Realty of Tennessee7387 Plateau RoadCrossvil...

Downtown in Crossville, on Main Street there is an old place called the Palace Theater.  This historical place has been a part of Crossville's heritage for the past 70 years.  The Palace Theater, also known as "The Jewel of Main Street", opened for the first time on November 21, 1938.  It showed the movie "If I Were King" and the tickets were only 31 cents.  This theater hosted a lot of Saturday matinees and live band performances.  Many of the local teens of the 1960s and 1970s came here for a date night and sat in the balcony.  The Palace Theater showed first run movies and was a popular place to hang out. In 1978, the Palace Theater closed because of the opening of the new Capri Twin Theater in Woodmere Mall.  As time went on, some residents began to see the wearing away of the old P...
