Vultures were flying everywhere!  That was just one of the adventures that happened at Dunbar Cave during the annual Spring Fling on Saturday, April 26. Hundreds of people came out to see live raptors, snakes, amphibians, and rescued wildlife.Over the course of the day's events, visitors took hikes, pausing to look at wildflowers or spot birds along with the general trekking. They learned about bluebirds, backpacking and many other things, topping off the day with the opportunity to canoe in the lake. Dozens of enthusiastic volunteers helped set up and take down equipment for this annual event, which was sponsored by the Friends of Dunbar Cave, the Warioto Audubon Chapter, Tennessee Trails Association and TN Wildlife Resources Agency.  The event also attracted the interest of Tennessee'...

If you're looking for a unique outdoor decoration for your home and garden, consider a rain chain. A tradition from ancient Japan, a rain chain is a beautiful, functional alternative to the traditional, closed gutter downspout.A perfect accompaniment to a garden with feng shui ambiance, rain chains make pleasing water features. Providing the soft tinkling of individual droplets to the soothing rush of white water, they are a treat to hear. Not only are they beautiful and interesting, they are functional too. Gently guiding rainwater, visibly down chains or cups from the roof to the ground, rain chains act as the link to environmentally conscious water management as well. Beneath the rain chain, place a water receptacle such as a rain barrel to collect rainwater for watering your flower ...

My neighborhood here in Clarksville,TN, was not so long ago home to deer, rabbits and other wildlife animals.   I am sad that we have taken over their homes.  With the Real Estate Market so healthy here in Clarksville, more and more subdivisions are being built and thus we are providing less green space for the animals.  One of the first things that I noticed when I moved to Tennessee last year was the abundance of deer.  They are everywhere and it's not unusual to see them crossing the street ahead of you, or relaxing in your backyard.  But, now I'm ready to do some planting of flowers and vegetables and I want to keep the critters away!  Here is some information on a product that I will be using in the yard.Do you enjoy watching wildlife such as rabbits and deer in your yard?  Perhaps...

The State of Tennessee and the 101st Airborne Division Association are working on a Pre-Order for the new license plate to honor the 101st Airborne Division. Before Tennessee begins production, they must pre-sell 1,000 of the license plates at $35 each (additional registration fees apply). If for any reason they fail to get the minimum order all money would be refunded. ( I see no reason for them not to pre-sell more than enough )Net proceeds from the sale of the plates will be allocated 50% to the 101st Airborne Association; 40% to the Tennessee Arts Commission; and 10% to the State Highway Fund. Sales are restricted by the legislation to registered vehicle owners of Tennessee.              Read the Article L-R Representative Curtis Johnson, 101st Airborne Division Association Secretar...

"Clarksville announced last week it had found a new slogan: "Tennssee's Top Spot."What do you think about the new logo? I think it is a nice concept and is fine, but I also think that they could have come up with something a little better. I truly think my 8yr old daughter could have come up with this. Then again simple is sometimes the best way to advertise. Tell me what you think. If you would like to read the story about the unveiling take a look at the link below. You can also read about it in the leaf chronicle. http://www.clarksvilleonline.com/2008/04/12/clarksville-unveils-new-brand-as-tennessees-top-spot/

I like to keep up with new things in Clarksville. I am pleased that we are still growing even in the current state of our economy. That only means that Clarksville's future is still VERY bright. I like to log on to The Leaf Chronicle daily to check out the news in the Clarksville area and have started reading the blogs on various community topics on the site. The topic of the Exit 1 area surfaced. Check it out.WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE COME TO THE EXIT 1 AREA IN CLARKSVILLE?  "Exit 1 has seen a lot of retail growth recently like the Walgreens, Coldstone Creamery, Cheeseburger Charley's, Mr. Gatti's, El Bracereo and Michael's Pizza just to name a few within a block or two of the intersection of Trenton Road and Tiny Town Road. How many out there would like to see a grocery store in our ...

Shopping AroundI think I can get you the best deal, provide you with the best service and like so many others turn you into a very satisfied customer. However, if you want to look around, I want to help you do that wisely as well!First, make sure you are working with an experienced, professional loan officer affliated with a credible institution. The largest financial transaction of your life is far too important to place into the hands of someone who is not capable of advising you properly and troubleshooting the issues that may arise along the way. FTC AlertAccording to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), you may be signing on for trouble if a lender:  Encourages you to falsify your application information to get the loan.   Urges you to borrow more than you need.   Pushes you to acce...

Market CommentaryAt Legacy Mortgage we are constantly seeking ways to enhance our dedication to our clients and real estate partners. We have scoured through the financial reports for the week and we wanted to share the information with you. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance to you and your valued clients. This week is fairly light in terms of economic news scheduled for release. There are four reports scheduled, but only one of them is likely to cause much movement in mortgage rates. Accordingly, there is a fairly decent possibility of seeing a fairly calm week in the mortgage market. The week's first piece of da...
