Today, I ate at Soups On. It is located on Broad Street at the foot of lookout mountain. Before I met my two friends at the restaurant, I visited their website to look at the menu. To my surprise each day, they offer different soups. I love variety. The soups today were chicken fajita, vegetable and cheesy potato. While I was online, I found a coupon for a combo meal, so I decided to have the combo meal. The combo meal included a 1/2 sandwich, soup, side and drink. I ordered a half a reuben sandwich and for my side I chose the potato logs. I love potatos as much as that character in Forest Gump loved shrimp! The best part is that Soups On doesn't fry the potato logs or potato tots, they bake them. As you enter, you stand in line, order your food, pay and then you seat yourself. It was c...

How exciting to get that e-mail from the showing service that your listing is scheduled for a showing!  The phone has not been ringing for that piece of property, there were no calls from the newspaper ad, nor the magazine.  E-mail blasts to 200 Realtors received no response - what is a girl supposed to do!?   But, alas, my 1981 3 bedrooms/2 bath ranch over full basement has had 3 showings over the past 3 weeks!  Life can be good!  Feedback is not extremely bad, so we have something with which to go forward with staging and imrpovements!  Thank you to all agents who provide feedback - that is a true courtesy to your fellow professionals and very much appreciated.  Is March the month to watch?  You bet it is!  Chattanooga statistics show that for the 4th quarter of 2008, the median price...

By David Israel, Business Manager Today from 11:30 until several minutes after President Barack Obama was Inaugurated, not much work was getting done in our office.  I was glued to my computer watching our great nation shift power from one political party to to another.  No matter which side of the row you sit on, you have to take great pride in the fact that our country can change power with an oath and a handshake.  No violent over throw, no bullets or bombs; just pomp and circumstance. Living in Chattanooga and watching CNN from my computer was an amazing experience that really brought tears to my eyes.  I can only imagine what the 2 million people standing in The National Mall in Washington were feeling.  Everyone who attended witnessed an historic moment in our nations history (you...

We have had snow on and off all day today and I am ecstatic!  We don't get snow often here and so I anxiously await some each uear.  The last significant snow was in 1993 the Blizzard of '93.  Oh what I would give for a nice big one like that. Mostly what we get are teases.  I grew up in snow country and I miss an occassional storn during winter about as much as I miss my ocean.  The forecast is for snow and freezing precipitation through mid morning tomorrow.  I won't get my hopes up though.  It is sounding more like sleet and ice than snow and no one likes that!

I remember the first time that I knew that I was coming to Chattanooga, Tn. for an extended time period.  I thought "Deliverance" then I came; with reservations, and never left!  This is a remarkable microcosm of larger cities, but, with the friendliness and familiarity of a nice town.  Chattanooga caters to so many areas of interest that it becomes mind boggling! I would have to write a 200 page travel guide to cover things fully, but, just to start things off, here are some of the broad reaching activities that the area offers. Outdoor Activities  - Hiking, boating, kayaking, swimming, camping Crafts- Numerous craft festivals and a cluster f crafts businesses in ST. Elmo, North Chattanooga and Southside just to name a few Health Care- Large hospitals such as Erlanger and Memorial as w...

By David Israel, Business Manager Let me start off this article by stating that I do not show houses, however, I have been asked the question on numerous occasions, "will my house sell faster if I take down my wallpaper and paint the walls?".  My answer is always YES - and everyone on the team concurs!  I have read a few articles on the subject of Paint vs. Wallpaper and there are distinct advantages to having wallpaper on your walls.  There are also many disadvantages.  In the Chattanooga real estate market, most buyers these days are looking for simple neutral painted walls.  Wallpaper is just a turnoff to most of the buyers in today's market.  Remember, I always say that you only get a first impression once.  Wallpaper usually is a bad first impression.  I don't want to knock wallpap...

Chattanooga has it's own organic paradise, Greenlife Grocery.  Located conveniently at the Manufacturers Road exit of Hwy. 27 , it is a feast for the health oriented.  I had occassion to go there today.  This is only my second trip to their brand new store at this location.  Originally it was located on Barton AVe. (Hixson Pike) in Red Bank.  They are currently remodeling that location and have plans to reopen that store again also.   I headed over to find a Christmas present for my business partner; organic, unpoped corn kernels.  I called ahead and they assured me that they had them. When I first walked into the store I noticed a vast array of organic wines and beers in a special section that I had never noticed before.  This is a great feature for me because I am slowly changing to ...

Thanks largely to Tuesday's Federal Reserve statement, the historic drop in mortgage rates over the last few weeks continued a little further this week.  Lower than expected inflation data from the November Consumer Price Index (CPI) report also was favorable for mortgage rates.  According to Freddie Mac's weekly survey, average 30-year fixed conforming mortgage rates fell to the lowest level in 37 years. Mortgage rates turned slightly higher late in the week, however, raising the question of whether the downward trend will continue. In a unanimous vote, the Fed cut the target Fed Funds rate from 1.00% to a range between 0.00% and 0.25%.  The 75 basis point cut was larger than the consensus forecast for a 50 basis point cut.  According to the statement, the Fed will employ "all availabl...

Chattanooga, TN October 2008 - Nationally renowned real estate marketing and technology speaker and REALTOR.com Vice President, Max Pigman, has presented to Andy Hodes of Keller Williams Realty the "real Estate Online Marketing Award of Excellence".  The Award of Excellence recognizes top agents who consistently provide great marketing services on behalf of their buyers and sellers. "There are always some real estate agents who distinguish themselves from other agents by doing a little more for their sellers.  In particular; when the home they are selling is placed on a well trafficked site such as the 1st ranked REALTOR.com, even simple efforts like having more photos displayed, crafting better descriptions or adding a full motion video, can make a home stand out from competing propert...
