Home For Heroes program offers discounts vets, local heroes.     If you serve your country or community, you should be able to get a break when buying a home. That is the basic premise of a new program in Rapid City that helps with home financing for military veterans, police officers, firefighters and other local service professionals. Qualified applicants can save thousands of dollars through the new Homes for Heroes program that works with local real estate agents and related service providers to provide discounts to area heroes. A group of Minnesota-based real estate executives created the program after 9/11 as a way to give back to everyday heroes who serve their community, according to the group's website.
