"It's been a long December, and there's reason to believe maybe this year will be better than the last." Unfortunately, this simple song lyric rings true for the majority of the U.S. population for 2008.  Gas prices, the Presidential election, the stock market, and just the economy in general has had people worrying about their once stable future and keeping a tight grip on their pockets.  The effect it has had on families really hit me when I listened to my Aunt try to explain to her children why they wouldn't be receiving as much for Christmas.  Yes, it was a long December....it was a long 2008. Even being one of the top investments in the country, the effect on the Real Estate market has been no different.  With the surplus of inventory and the outstanding low interest rates, the mar...

Over the past few months it has become more and more evident what a real Treasure we have in Lake Keowee.  The drought in our area has gone beyond severe and has reached critical stage.  The surrounding Lakes in our region are showing the ill effect of this drought.  Lake Hartwell has now gone over the 20 foot mark in its steady decline. We are fortunate that Lake Keowee is only at 7 feet below full pond and one of the main reason being the scheduled outage at the power plant for repairs. I have lived in alot of places around this country and have seen many lakes and it is tough to find one that offers us as much as Keowee does.  We have the benefit of our climate to stretch out our enjoyment of the lake.  We have scenic beauty of the mountains to our west.  We have the beauty of the la...

From Oak Stone Shores, Clearwater, the ever popular Waterside Crossing, to Riverstone, people always ask about value on Lake Keowee.  They want to know where to find it.  The key price point for lots, per buying patterns of buyers in today's market seems to be between $350k-$450k.  Right now I have many lots, some priced at debt pricing (meaning they are priced at what the seller owes on the lot).  Check out my blog at http://keoweelandandhomes.blogspot.com for more information.

Lake Keowee is nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. In 1971, Duke Power developed the 18,500-acre lake with 300 miles of tree-lined shoreline. It is comprised of two rivers and two dams. Warpath Dam impounds the Keowee River and the other dam impounds the Little River. Keowee is owned and operated by Duke Power Company. In addition to having a power generating plant located on the lake, the company provides many public access areas to the lake. These public access areas include picnic areas and boat ramps.Constructed by Duke Power Company to generate hydroelectric power, Lake Keowee covers Keowee Town, site of the capital of the Lower Cherokee Nation. Keowee, meaning "Place of the Mulberries," was visited by Spanish explorer Hernando DeSoto when he came throug...

One of the great attractions here in the Upstate South Carolina area is a large and beautiful lake called Lake Keowee. People come from all over the country visiting the area, and we meet tourists probably at least once a week that are considering living here after visiting the area sometimes only once. The area's lakes are usually one of the key reasons. Lake Keowee was constructed by Duke Power Company for the purpose of generating hydroelectric power. The word Keowee, means "Place of the Mulberries," Spanish explorer Hernando DeSoto visited the area when he traveled through in 1540. Lake Keowee is considered by many as one of the most beautiful and clearest lakes in South Carolina. The mountain views from various sections of the lake are simply breathtaking. It's 18,500 acres of wat...
