For anyone interested in taking a look back at one of South Carolina's most historical little towns, Bluffton is an interesting community.  It offers a look at old South Carolina including a view of antebellum homes and many unique artsy and innovatinve shops.  Located just across the bridge from Hilton Head, Bluffton is now one of the fastest growing areas in the entire United States. Located on a scenic bluff that overlooks the May River, Bluffton was originally an important distribution center that provided the avenue to ship products all over the southeast.  The beginnings of Bluffton trace back almost 150 years.  In the 18th and 19th centuries, wealthy cotton and rice planters brought their families to the bluffs of the May River to escape the oppressive summer heat from their ...

The ten things I love most about Bluffton, in no particular order:1.    The weather - While a 100 degree scorcher in August is a sizable challenge for my natural curls, a few 70 degree days in January is a fair trade-off.2.    The local shrimp and oysters - Coming from a culinary background, I feel I have adequate experience to say the area shrimp and oysters rank as some of the best in the world.3.    The third Friday on Calhoun St. - The third Friday of each month the town closes off the streets and we have a casual block party, of sorts.  The food vendors, funky art galleries, live music and plenty of interesting people are the things which make Old Town Bluffton special.4.    The people - Bluffton is a wonderfully diverse community.  You will meet people from all over the world who ...

Travel + Leisure Golf's annual list of the best places to live-and live well have placed five Bluffton area golf communities in the top 100, with Palmetto Bluff achieving the No. 2 spot. Belfair, Berkely Hall, Colleton River and nearby Spring Island also made the list.  The criteria for the ranking focused on the quality of the course and amenities as well as the current real estate market and property investment.  David Lott, Publisher of GolfCourseHome.net feels that the top-tier communities realize that caddie programs, multi-season recreation options for all ages and upgraded dinning and spa amenities are practically essential.  "Ten years ago no one knew who a golf community's chef was", says Lott.  The article also touches on the current fact that a softer housing market makes it ...
