It is the 25th anniversary of the Wickford RI 02852 Festival of Lights - December 2-5th starting at 6 pm in downtown Updike Park.  All graciously sponsored by the North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce.  First, Friday night is the lighting of the town's Christmas tree and of course the arrival of Santa Claus (who knows he may come in by boat due to the lack of snow!).  The Lafayette band will be providing the music and the North Kingstown community youth chorus will be singing. All the local merchants throughout Wickford have decorated the stores which will be all aglow starting Friday evening.  A majority of the stores will be staying open until 9 pm so make sure you come down to join in the festive North Kingstown town spirit.  All this is part of the effort to bring townspeople back to ...

We all have just had a wonderful celebratory holiday of Thanksgiving but helping real people is a year round mission for many organizations like the Salvation Army-so I encourage each one of you to be an Angel in this season, make a worthwhile donation and fill their virtual kettle on line.  Yes, believe it or nor the Salvation Army has made it to the virtual age in order to attract donations they need to support all the heartfelt programs they do everyday.  Dagny Eason's post yesterday got me thinking that I had not taken names from the giving tree that the Salvation Army sponsors locally in our community.  I always do it right after Thanksgiving at a local store but now you can do it on line...in fact the Salvation Army is using social media to its fullest extent by Tweeting, Facebook...

Lone Tree Point is a unique waterfront Wickford neighborhood in North Kingstown RI 02852.  Whether you consider yourself in Wickford or North Kingstown (Wickford is the hamlet village within North Kingstown), this area just south of Duck Cove is pristine and quiet for all who venture down Earle Drive from Route 1A (Boston Neck Road) admiring the waterfront homes for sale in this area.  Lone Tree Point is less than a mile out of the center of Wickford and is another waterfront and coastal neighborhood that is extremely popular with buyers once they discover the bay side area.Because Lone Tree Point is more of a penuinsula that extends into Narragansett Bay, homes have water on either the back side or the front side of the property.  This waterfront neighborhood is nestled in between Duck...

It is always interesting to look back and analyze (a bit) why some listings did not come your way and ask what are some sellers drinking?  You can almost hear my insides saying what is wrong with that seller when I have told them the truth on the selling price of their home, presented a detailed marketing plan and yes, even connected with them (i thought) on an intellectual level.  Haa!  The truth is sellers do not want the truth in many instances.  As intelligent people go, it is that hope that the real estate agent who gives them the highest listing price for the sale of their house and is rewarded with the listing.  Yet, the comparable sold properties in the prior six months couldn't support the sellers' desired asking price even in the last few years!  Ahh, but some realtors, as we ...

I am a big proponent of everything local to keep the community thriving and growing so when I read the story about a member of the North Kingstown Food Pantry in North Kingstown RI 02852, the truth of every day being a stormy day for the hungry hits harder.  Located at the United Methodist Church at 450 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown, RI 02852, the North Kingstown Food Pantry feeds an ever growing amount of families weekly who can not put enough food on their table. It is so true that no matter what the day may be outside in some local family's life there is a storm brewing with loss of jobs and homes that have happened over the year that make every day of living a struggle.  The stress and discomfort takes it toll on these families.  The North Kingstown Food Pantry is the lighthous...

So tell me when is home selling by a North Kingstown RI realtor not marketing at all?  In Nina Rogoff's post yesterday she goes into the fact that when selling your home the Realtor should not keep it a Secret.  Marketing your property on the internet, mailings and signs is what it is all about in today's real estate marketing world.  However, most North Kingstown realtors are not using the internet to its full advantage or they are not using it at all to market the client's home.  Why would a North Kingstown realtor only display one picture of a home being marketed for sale or no picture at all for the length of the listing?  Now why would the realtor you entrust your home to do this and expect to get you, the seller, Ready- Willing- and Qualified buyers for your home?  It may be that t...

It is a sacred day to all trick or treaters this event called Halloween...so don't you want to Halloween monster mash with me in Mount View North Kingstown RI 02852?  My neighborhood is in full swing and Mr. Roland Desjarlais on Narragansett Avenue in North Kingstown RI in the tiny community of Mount View is NO exception.  In fact you might say the man goes batty over Halloween trimmings at his bayside house.  He is the Halloween star in our neighborhood.  Now Roland has been doing this for years and he has thousands invested in all the ghouls, lights and automated Halloween happenings on his front lawn.  His displays are not only colorful but they are mobile and voice automated as well.  He orders some of these 30 foot displays s not like it use to be and he sometimes has to send the i...

Being a quick understudy is important as a Realtor and when I am asked what do I know about radon in well water I need to think fast?  I should have good, knowledgeable answers to that question.  Being informed and knowing the right well water radon mitigation companies to call is what gives the buyer and the seller the comfort level they need in this process.  Being in an area with higher levels of radon in the air and sometimes in the water, North Kingstown homes for sale, if on a well, should be tested for both in any home inspection for a buyer in RI. In a particular recent residence with well water that was in agreement, the buyer and sellers tested the water twice (double duty) by two different companies to be sure of the readings and the tests revealed that they were significan...

North Kingstown RI homes for sale have the best location in RI, I believe, since they are all situated smack right in the middle geographically of this tiny state.  Now sales of North Kingstown RI homes  has been slow all summer but the fall has shown a pent up demand of buying finally happening in this community.  North Kingstown has alot to offer by its centrist geographic location, great schools and all with Narragansett Bay on its westerly side.  Now pent up demand indicates that deals are to be had, made and negotiated at this time of the year. A year ago many sellers still were not getting the market value of their property.  Now there are more reasonable and presentable selling prices for North Kingstown RI homes for sale by buyers. If you enjoy the waterfront and bayside propert...

During a local forum on water usage in my town recently, I was asked are you a gobbler or a sipper of our natural resource - water?  There is no doubt as a homeowner, conservationist and sustainably green realtor that I am a sipper.  But how about you? Protecting one's water supply is a serious matter and it is not a never ending resource.  Current research indicates that the world's use of water is increasing twofold every 20 years!  It is expected that within 30 years that the demand for water will be greater than the supply by 30%.  Many people think that water will become the next 'gold' in the world and we are already seeing how certain parts of the United States controls water for other parts...somewhat a disquieting thing.  We take so much for granted and the ample supply of wate...

The fighting bee logo of the Seabee is at home at the Navy Davisville facility in North Kingstown RI.  They were and still are the 'builders' of the Navy and Marines and were formed at the beginning of WWII to be the construction battalion to support troops around the world.  The logo of the Seabee was designed by a native Rhode Islander.  The 'fighting bee at sea' is known throughout Rhode Island but probably not anywhere else.  So I thought I would share this picture with you today in tribute to them. My understanding is that about 85% of the pontoon boats used at the D-Day landing in Europe were made by the Seabees in RI and shipped over for the landing of troops and equipment.  General MacArthur was quoted as saying "The only thing wrong with the Seabees is that there is not enough ...
