Hurricane Irene creation on the RI beach in North Kingstown RI is amazing and considering what homeowners are still going through it is an unusual and distracting sight.  Our RI coastline has truly changed a lot but on the Atlantic Ocean end of South Kingstown and Narragansett, we lost 4 feet of sand coastline with this tropical storm.  Now considering the 65 mph wind strength and gusts over 80 mph, it was not as much as Rhode Islanders feared - we love our coastline dearly and it is treasured by all RI residents. the steady as you go bloggers get going and since it is Day 5 without electricity due to tropical storm Irene in RI, my North Kingstown real estate office & home is still without power and being in the blogging RI real estate realm is tough.  So you think you can find a generator anywhere- NOT!  But we convinced my brokers wife to give her generator up for the day so we can have office phones and internet.  It is almost as good as taking a hot shower when you are living like this. Today is Clean Up- Hurricane Irene in RI. It could have been worse for sure....no lives lost and not extensive Ri property damage with the now stated Troppical Storm Irene....it only had winds to 65 MPH which we were all grateful for...no lives lost.  The wind came out of the southeast which made a huge difference to the homeowners on Narragansett Bay.  If it had come another way the storm surge would have crippled most of the Bay's coastline and decimated RI coastal homes.  We were spared except for no electricity for a week of so. The gorgeous Atlantic Ocean coastline in RI was greatly eroded....I haven't been down to look but just heard the reports.  Time for the Army Corps of engineers to help out here I hope.  RI National Guard was amazing in their helping response teams throughout... 08/29/2011

Missing Yesterday ...Today is Hurricane Irene Right now power is going off and on ...most of the low lying parts of RI have been evacuated.  In North Kingstown RI where I am on Narragansett Bay we are just above the flood zone tidal surge coming in....I have to say since I took the picture a half an hour ago the surge force of the water is unbelievable.  High tide is at 8:00 a.m. and I'll post a picture then in the change which is happening so rapidly it is amazing. The wind and surge from Hurricane Irene is coming from the East which pushes Narragansett Bay water into the inlet where my house is situated.  Micro tornadoes are expected and no trees down yet but lots of branches.  Yet I moved my car out of the garage due to a large tree that could take it down.  Guess what I still need a... 08/28/2011

View from the coastline of Narragansett Bay.  One can not help but appreciate the creation all around us especially after being shaken up with a twist yesterday in the aftermath of the Virginia earthquake.  We felt it here in RI for at least 30 seconds as I was happily at my computer feeling my seat move and thinking this must be my mind playing tricks or the house is about to have a gas explosion!  No the lamp in front of me was rocking too! Seabee or Queen Bee?  North Kingstown RI at Quonset Point off of Post Road is the original home of the World War II Seabees.  They were instrumental in WWII in being the maintenance arm of the Navy in order to keep the machinery humming as well as doing naval construction.  They restored the wonderful statute to the Seabees a couple of years ago and along with the museum they have to all these wonderful men who did so much for their fellow countrymen during this part of our history. Musings of a Sunday with a Little North Kingstown pooch named Peanut.  One thing about Peanut, the sweet dog a friend owns, is that whenever food is ‘about’ to be put on the grill he has the great sense to come down the road and pay us all a visit.  It is really uncanny this ‘other’ sense of his since the food isn’t even out yet and he knows the chow is about to happen- no matter the time of day!  Pretty good ‘people/food sense’ don’t you think?
