West Chester, Pennsylvania held its annual Christmas Parade Friday night. It was cold, but not the brutal cold that freezes noses and toes, just a nice wintry feeling. We had dinner at a restaurant on the parade route down Market Street and could hear the booming of the drums as we ate. We came out in time to see a good bit of the parade, as you can see from these pictures. The parade ended, as is traditional, with Santa.

Hershey's Mill is one of my favorite Chester County over 55 communities.  It's about 24 miles from Center City and within 45 minutes of the Philadelphia International Airport.   The community sits on 800 acres of rolling hills and lovely landscaping.  In the center of this lovely community is the Hershey's Mill Golf Club, which I believe is an 18 hole course with a lovely club house. Here's a shot just as some of the flowering trees were starting to bloom!  Something to look forward to! Currently, there are 41 homes for sale in the community ranging from $117,500 for a small 1 bedroom, 1 bath flat to $459,000 for a 3 bedroom, 3 bath home. There are currently 12 homes pending settlement, ranging from $159,900 for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath flat  to $395,00 for a 2 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath contempora...

REAL ESTATE SALES CAREER Why do a majority of the people who choose a Real Estate Career obtain greater success their first year while other struggle.  I heard that The National Association of REALTORS reported that 90% of newly licensed agents leave the business in their first year of their real estate sales career. As a coach to newly licensed agents that statistic, if it is correct, it’s unacceptable me. I believe since our industry is so focused on recruiting new talent we owe a higher level of success to our new hires aspiring to a real estate sales career. Often when newly licensed are hired to work at an agency they are sent to a company sponsored training program for two weeks off site then assigned to a mentor for a pre determined number of transaction, usually three then left ...

I often write about this lovely over 55 community in East Goshen Township.  Hershey's Mill consists of many different villages, varying sized homes, prices and amenities.  What all the homes and villages share is the fantastic landscaping and views throughout.  One of my all time favorite spots in Hershey's Mill is right here.  In every season, this spot makes me want to pull over, and just sit in peaceful silence. Another view of the pond is just as inspiring. If you've been thinking about a move to an over 55 community, I would love to show you around this wonderful community.

This is exciting news for West Chester Borough! The Hotel Warner, located at 120 N. High Street is now open and they are accepting reservations! Grand Opening this weekend,  Open House this Sunday from 2 to 4 PM! The staircase in the lobby. This mural is in the lobby.  Beautiful! This hotel features the historic 1930 Warner Theatre lobby!  The Warner Theatre originally opened it's doors in 1930 and was quite grand for such a small town.  The new hotel will also feature an indoor pool, rooftop patio and private meeting rooms.  This will be wonderful for business and for great overnight stays.   It is the only hotel in historic downtown West Chester and is an easy walk to all of the fine restaurants and shops in the borough.   Call 610-692-6920 for reservations.

West Goshen experienced a tragic fire this week on Gail Road which killed an elderly couple in the early morning of 8/10/12.  Several of our area fire companies and medics responded to the blaze. 3 young men from Station 56 of the Goshen Fire Company went the extra mile today by visiting neighbors on Gail Road and talking to them about smoke alarms.  Offering to test the smoke alarms, the 3 men realized that some of the alarms either didn't have batteries or the batteries were dead.  The firefighters then used their own money and replaced batteries for those that needed it. The firefighters, Ryan Herman, Steve Hiro and Dusty Kilgore, all from Station 56 are just 3 of the many volunteers that put themselves in harm's way to keep our neighborhoods safe from fire.  The mission station of t...

As of August 1, there are 173 homes for sale in East Goshen Township.  Of these 173 homes, 71 are single homes, 2 are twins or semi detached (lest you feel these are your run of the mill twins, I'd like to add that they are priced at $800,000 and $839,000).  82 of the 173 are rows or townhouses and 18 are flats.  That is a lot of variety for a small township that measures 10 square miles!  Prices of the active homes range from $110,000 to $2,599,000.     As a resident of East Goshen Township, I can highly recommend the area.  I've lived here for a happy 20 years so far.  According to googlemaps, it's 41 minutes to Philadelphia International Airport and about 45 to 55 minutes to center city Philadelphia depending on the route you take.  I can get to South Jersey in 45 minutes and to Ocea...

I've updated this post from last year because I simply love this photo of my son Mike.  He's 23 now  but would you look at this little face?   East Goshen is not considered rural.  It's not considered country.  But the first week in August always bring a little of rural Chester County to East Goshen with the Goshen Country Fair! Rides for the kids, shows and music, livestock, food, games and just about everything you've come to expect from a good old fashioned Country Fair.  And the best part is that it is a 100% volunteer organization and benefits The Goshen Fire Company.  We've always brought the kids to this fair.  Now, at 23 and 16, they are too old or too cool to visit with their parents.  Pictured here is Mike, my 23 year old at age 1 on his first pony ride!  My husband Jack and I...

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens...  Maria, in the sound of music had a list of her favorite things.  I am in agreement with some of them but others, meh.   I have no idea what a schnitzel is.  I have no quarrel with the noodle, as an American  of Italian descent, I've eaten more than my share of noodles.  Wild geese that fly are only something I can appreciate in the spring when they fly in.  When I hear them honking overhead while flying south it can only mean one thing.  Summer is coming to an end.  Spring and summer are my seasons and autumn, while beautiful is always bittersweet to me.  Winter and I have an understanding; I won't complain too much and winter won't last forever. There's a tradition in this area, a longstanding one, that the first week in August brings The ...

Historic Country Home in West Chester, PA – Weekend Escape? Bed and Breakfast?   137 N. Wawaset Road   This is a bit unusual.   I’m writing about a listing that isn’t even mine.   It’s also not anywhere near me, in fact it’s 2000+ miles away, on the East Coast.   But I know this property pretty well, and I thought I would do what I could, through the power and reach of ActiveRain, to help my Mom sell her house.     137 N. Wawaset in West Chester PA offers a wealth of opportunities, including potential Bed and Breakfast or a country home escape form the city, by virtue of its uniqueness.   Nestled in the hills a few miles outside town on the edge of fox hunting country, 137 N. Wawaset, c. 1750, is on 4+ acres of land with gardens and plentiful trees, set far back from a country road at t...
