Spring is definitely in the air!  Here are some of the lovely things blooming at my home in East Goshen!  East Goshen is a great place to live and work and I am proud to show off my garden!              This is an ornamental plum.  This is the view from my deck looking over at my neighbor's property.  That's her weeping willow in the background.  I always wanted a weeping willow but I have black walnuts all over the place and I couldn't get one to grow on my lot.  I was very happy when my neighbor Don bought one for his wife and my friend Nora for Mother's Day a few years ago and planted where I could enjoy it too!If you sit under the plum tree and look up, this is the view of the sky overhead through the pink flowers.  I imagine heaven smells a bit like this.  I imagine the rest of he...

One of the biggest challenges in life is moving.....Moving, relocating, changing place to live.  There are many milestones in life that cause change in residence for people.  New jobs, new relationships, (marriage, divorce), relocations, children born, outgrow space, children move out, we all know the reasons. And one thing is constant, change.  Change is good.  Change is healthy.  Adapting to change is experiential and worthwhile.  Change helps develop people and keep us challenged.Being a Realtor keeps me involved with people through the changes and that is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.  It is especially fun and rewarding when it comes to "Happy Changes" like the step for people where the kids are grown and you don't need all that space and you get to do things only you wa...

You all know the song "Love is in the Air".  Well, since I was down with a cold yesterday and three different possible buyer appointments didn't pan out, I decided to get some much needed sunshine and work outside getting my garden ready.  so, I was humming that tune but thinking... "spring is in the air"!  I love to be outside, I love flowers, and I really love my garden.  Here are pictures of the first signs of spring waking up in my backyard garden.  Having grown up in the city of Philadelphia, unless you counted the fig tree my father tried heroically to grow every year in our little concrete backyard, I didn't have much experience with flowers.  I bought books and watched my neighbors, bugged anyone who would answer me with a zillion questions and have grown to love making the gard...

Yesterday, I had lunch with a client at this neat little place in West Chester that I had never heard of.  The Art Scene.  We had a wonderful lunch and then moseyed around checking out the art work and sculptures.  What a great find.  If you get a chance, check it out! 10/31/08 update... I heard from a friend that the Art Scene closed it's doors.  I'm very sorry to hear this.

My best friend and office mate Leann, was busy as a beaver yesterday, negotiating multiple offers on her new listing in the West Chester area.  If you listen to the media, this is a thing of the past.  Apparently, not so!  Leann negotiated most of last night and today she closed the deal about $25,000 over asking.  Realtors are trained to negotiate on behalf of the seller.  A good Realtor will put your interest ahead of their own.  A good Realtor will help you get your home ready for showing so that you are putting your best foot forward.  If you are thinking of putting your house on the market, don't count on luck.  Count on the expertise of a Realtor. The signs are there!   Call or email today for a free and confidential interview.

I saw many homes today in my market area.  West Chester PA runs the gamette in types of homes, condition and locations.  There are great properties in great neighborhoods.  How do you get from a house needing lots of work to a house that will get sold?Do you just work on the house yourself so it will sell?I saw so many nice homes that Buyers will not buy because they do not see the value to the location and the actual quality of the house. Or will they?  and at what price?  Most people want to move into a big clean space where nothing is needed to e done.Prices should stay up, however will homes in "rough condition" effect VALUES and distort Buyer perception of the market.  houses that are in poor condition will get a lower price that houses in updated great condition.  Will these value...

It is so hard to buy a home in the area of West Chester if you are just starting out on your own.  I know this will tell my age but I bought a townhouse in 1976, it was brand new, and it cost $40,000. It was a brand new house and I wanted some extras, a fireplace specifically, and that was an additional $1200.  I moved back home with my parents while my house was being built .  I worked a 2nd job to save the money for the fireplace.  My dad cosigned for my mortgage. That house is in a neighborhood called Indian King.  A house in that neighborhood sells for 220K these days.  I often drive by to see the tree I planted in the back yard.  it is big, after all it is 32 years old!The Buyers of a home today can get a 1 bedroom 1 bath "FLAT" for $140K and if you did want a townhome, the least e...

I love to exercise.  I don't feel right when I don't.  I don't sleep right when I don't.  I can't eat as much as I want if I don't!  In my opinion, the best place in the world to get a good workout, in a clean, friendly environment, is ACAC Fitness and Wellness Center in West Goshen.  The group classes can't be beat.  I've written before about Zumba.  This Latin American dance aerobics is so much fun, you leave feeling like you've just been to a great party!  Body Pump and Body Bar are both great strength training classes.  If you are interested in visiting, ACAC is just off of Greenhill and Boot Roads.  Their website is:  http://westchester.acac.com/index.php
