Free Trees for Residents in Springfield, Delaware County, PA To Help Meet Township CodeAs a homeowner in Springfield Delaware County PA, it is required under the Township Zoning Code that residents have a tree in their front yard.  To help meet this requirement the township will be distributing free trees in November of this year and in the Spring of next year 2011.  The trees are first being offered to residents who do not have a tree at this time, and then if any are left over the remaining will be given to other residents.  Up to 240 trees will be given out in total.  This is all made possible thanks to a PECO Green Regional Program Grant of $5,000 that was recently awarded to Springfield Township to purchase native trees.  If you or someone you know may benefit from this grant pleas...

Springfield Township PA street trees and residents to benefit from PECO Green Region Grant. In May, PECO awarded $150,000 in PECO Green Region grants to 20 municipalities in the greater Philadelphia area.  These grants have been awarded yearly since 2004 to provide for projects for open space preservation, conservation, and improvements.  PECO works with its parent, Exelon Corp, the Natural Lands Trust, and conservation organizations to review applications and decide grant recipients. This year five of those recipients were located in Delaware County.  Thornbury, Folcroft, Haverford, Concord, and Springfield each received grants this year.  The grants varied between $5,000 and $10,000 per municipality and will cover an array of projects. The Weaving Process Compared To A Real Estate TransactionAs I was preparing my loom to weave a project the other day, I could not help but think about all the steps involved in weaving hand towels. I then started to think about all the steps involved in helping a Buyer or Seller in their journey towards a purchase or sale of a house and I came up with these two summaries. The Weaving Process: Visualize the end result (set of hand towels, place mats, shawl) select yarns calculate and measure yarns thread the loom weave the fabric remove the fabric from loom, secure the ends, pre-wash the fabric Voila! Finished product ready for use!  A Real Estate Transaction: Visualize the end result (a new home/the house sells) select a Realtor® calculate what one can afford or what needs to be done to ...

Hello Everyone: I am Realtor in Delaware County Pa. I am also a Master Plumber . This is the time of year I try to remind family , friends and clients to do    a little house keeping on their own plumbing system to help maintain that things are in working order and no surprises can catch them when they have   trouble with there plumbing. 1) One thing no one thinks of is the valves in there home until they need to shut down the domestic water due to a leak or a minor repair. Valves need to be exercised a few times ayear. Just like our own bodies if we don't exercise we get tight and stiff and don't work as well.   So a few times a year slowly open and close the valve just to keep it loose and free of debris. If the valve can not shut do not force it, it may be time to have it repaired or...

Welcome to the Thompson Ave Station of the SEPTA 101 Trolley in Springfield PA. This is one of the small on-demand trolley stops on the SEPTA 101 Trolley Line running from the 69th Street Terminal to Media PA.  It is located at the crossing of Thompson Avenue just to the east of Sproul Rd and north-west of its intersection with the Baltimore Pike. This is just one stop to the west of the larger Woodland Avenue stop and the next station west is the Springfield Mall trolley stop. The station itself has a small shed on the south side of the track (there is only one track from Woodland through Media).  There is no dedicated SEPTA parking at this location and only limited areas on the adjacent streets to park or to drop off/pick up passengers.  It is conveniently located to several residenti...

Welcome to the Leamy Ave Station of the SEPTA 101 Trolley in Springfield PA. As the SEPTA 101 Trolley journeys from 69th Street Terminal out to Media, it has eight separate stops in Springfield Township. The Leamy Ave station is the fourth stop in the township as you travel west. It does not have any dedicated parking, but there is plenty of room to drop off and pick up passengers in the immediate area. Leamy Ave is a smaller stop with a simple shelter on the eastbound side and just a bench traveling west. It is at the midpoint between the two larger stops located at the 101 Trolley's intersections with Woodland Ave toward Media and Saxer Avenue toward the 69th St Terminal. The station is directly across from the Springfield Senior High School, the School District Service Center, and th...
