This past Saturday, August 2nd, Nazareth held an event called "Martin on Main" .  This event was part of the year's celebration of C.F. Martin & Co. 175th Anniversary.  So, after a brief summer shower, it turned out to be a beautiful summer evening and my husband and I decided to check it out.   During this event, downtown Main St. was closed off for this celebration.  Martin Guitar had a tent set up with some of their guitars on display and for visitors to try.  An artist was set up in a tent sketching comical portraits of anyone who dared to sit still while the music was playing.    All along Main St. there were little areas for musicians to jam playing their Martin guitars.  In addition to the jammers, a small food stand was set up selling hot dogs, fries and drinks for those that ...

Saturday, June 21, starting at 8AM, the Nazareth Rotary Club will celebrate "The Barony of the Rose" historical repayment day.  It will be held at Center Square in downtown Nazareth.    Every June 24th, a single red rose is due as payment on the town's first property deed from the William Penn family.    The festivities will include musical selections played by the Nazareth Community Band from 9:30AM - 11:30AM and a rose procession at 10:15AM led by a Nazareth native.   Roses will be sold at various borough locations on Friday from 3PM - 6PM and during Saturday's festivities.   Wouldn't it be nice if that was all we had to pay for our property deeds??

It is 3:30AM Easter Morning.  You are awaken by the sound of music.  Music?  At 3:30 in the morning?  That's right! It is tradition in Nazareth, PA for the Nazareth Moravian Church Brass Choir to walk down the streets of Nazareth playing their Brass instruments early Easter morning.  This tradition started back in the 1740's when the Moravians settled Nazareth and has continued until present day.   Many residents come out of their homes to greet the brass choir, some sleepy-eyed, with "Happy Easter!" or "Christ has Risen!"  Newcomers to Nazareth have called the police to find out what is going on.  Few call the police to complain about the loud music.  Most Nazareth residents find it a pleasant experience. This year, the police have been notified ahead of time and will escort the brass...

Nazareth, PA has an excellent school system in place.  Many different programs are offered in the schools. At the elementary level, if your child is a over achiever, they have what is called the "Gifted Program".  This is a program that allows children that are bored with the regular classes, and are above average, to get together and do extra curricular activities.  They are taken out of their classes about twice a week and do creative projects to keep their minds active.  On the other hand, if the child needs extra help to keep up with the class, it is available.  The teachers work with each student as individuals. At the middle school and high shool levels, there are many activities and clubs available to the students.  There seems to be something for every type of interest.  The Hig...

"Nazareth, PA?  Where the heck is Nazareth, PA?"  I have heard this from a number of people from out of state.  So, to help give you an idea, I will do my best to explain the area and give you a quick overview.Nazareth, PA is a nice, quiet, little town, located in central, eastern part of Pennsylvania.  It is part of the Lehigh Valley, north of Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton, PA.  New Jersey is only 20 minutes away.  New York City and Philadelphia are only 1 1/2 hours away.  Even though Nazareth is a small town, it is close to major routes, shopping and malls, and recreation.  For those of you that are into NASCAR, it is home to the Andretti family. Nazareth has many things to offer, especially if you are a history buff.  On Main St., in downtown Nazareth, there are quaint little shops...

Today turned out to be a gorgeous winter day with the sun shining and temperatures around 50 degrees, which is a heat wave for around here at this time of year.  With it being so nice, I decided to take a stroll around downtown Nazareth, PA.  On my walk, I happened to pass the old Nazareth Hotel, which is now Nazareth Furniture (a local store) and Nazareth Hardware.  I decided to go inside and check out the furniture.  I hadn't been in there in years.  The old Nazareth Hotel is a Victorian Style building built sometime in the late 1800's.  It has 4 floors with a basement.  As you walk through the building, you notice that much of the structure is original.  The windows are old, not the modern insulated windows from today.  The floors in each of the rooms are the old plank flooring.  The...

Curious about what's happening on a month to month basis in the Nazareth PA area? Market Updates are in for November 2007. Although sales are down, homes are still selling - we did see 24 sales in the Nazareth area in October and over 500 in the Lehigh Valley. Moving a home today is all about pricing it right. Home prices have dropped and inventory is still high. There are lots of opportunities for buyers! The well known Speedway in Nazareth, PA is for sale once again.  For those of you that are unfamiliar with the Nazareth Speedway, it used to host the Indy Racing League and CART racing until August, 2004.  It then closed in part due to dwindling support.  The last race run was the Indy 225, on August 29, 2004.  The 1 mile oval track was then put on the market 5 months later by the owners. The track went under agreement with Ashley Development Corp. in March of 2006.  They had agreed to purchase the 158 acre property from International Speedway Corp. of Daytona Beach, Florida for $18.8 million.  The developers had proposed to build single family homes, townhouses, condominiums and a 55 and older community along with stores and office spaces.  It seems that Ashley Development defaulted on ...
