--------- Edited 10/12/08 I think the Lititz Porchwalk was a huge success!  I had to drive through Lititz on Saturday morning and then back through again on Saturday afternoon.  The  entire town was buzzing with people enjoying the absolutely beautiful weather!  The cafe's were busting at the seams with both , locals and visitors, stopping for a quick coffee break.  The shops were busy, the porches were full of good stuff, and I drove through town jealous that I couldn't park and walk and participate. Hope all who had a chance to visit the Lititz Porch Walk had a wonderful time!  Remember Lovin' Lititz Every Second, when there are more terrific community events throughout Lititz Boro.           ------------   For more information on Homes for Sale in Lancaster, or questions and/or conc...

A few months ago I posted about my experience in donating blood during our Long & Foster Community Day blood drive at the office, and the importance of helping our your local Red Cross chapter in "Thanks, But I already Gave at the Office". For those of you who for whatever reason either cannot give blood or choose to help in some other way, here is your perfect opportunity to not only spend a great day outdoors, but to help the National Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. For a donation of $20 (or $5 admission) you can enjoy an All You Can Eat buffet sponsored by the Macaroni Grill (mmmm....) and watch the Lancaster Polo Club Tournament ~ all while helping to benefit the National American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund , which will go specifically to help those in need after 2008 hurricanes...

Some people ask what I do in my spare time... And my answer to them is "What spare time?!" When I'm not showing and selling big houses ~ I'm still showing and selling "little" houses.  What do I mean by that??    Well, my husband I and own a "shed manufacturing" business right here in Lancaster County.  At Fox's Country Sheds & Structures, we design and build custom (and just regular 'ol ones) garden sheds, pool houses, and garages.  We sell them retail through our website or on our facility property at discounted prices, but our main aspect of the business is wholesaling to dealers, landscapers and even custom home builders.  We also ship out of state, and build "shed kits" for delivery to those who want to put the shed together themselves and save on shipping.  Our most recent kits ha...

I had the most amazing experience during an open house on Sunday afternoon at 51 E Front Street in Lititz.  "What time is dinner"?  I asked.  The neighbor, who stopped by during our open house to see how things were going, expressed his rush to get home because he had dinner cooking.  After telling me about the delicious meal he was preparing, I jokingly asked what time I should stop by. "Two o'clock" he tells me.  We all know that it's not unusual for neighbors to stop by during an open house.  In this case, the sellers have expressed many times how they hate to have to move out of the neighborhood, not only because they love Lititz so much but because they have such great neighbors.  Wouldn't you know it, at about 2:30 - during my open house - the neighbor comes back and surprises me ...

I look down at my cell phone and realize I missed a call and have a new voicemail.      Not surprising, if you know me, as my cell phone is not hanging on my beltloop but rather usually thrown into the depths of my purse, where it rings to an audience of loose business cards, keys, about a dozen pens (you never know when you need to write up a contract!), enough loose post-it notes and receipts to use as kindling and the always present pack of gum.  My latest favorite flavor is Mint Mojito ~ but that's a whole other story.   I listen to the voicemail while jamming the phone to my ear and covering my other ear with the palm of my free hand, trying to drown out the noise on the deck of La Piazza in Lititz, and the guy in the corner playing "Lightning Crashes" on the guitar.  He wasn't bad...

** I originally posted this last year during the Lititz Annual Art Show.  It's a huge event, and people come from near and far.  There are many year-round events that take place in Historic Lititz Boro, and I thought I would repeat this post for those who are new to the area and would like to learn more about Lititz.  As the Lancastrians say.... I have been busy, busy, busy lately -- although not necessarily only with real estate stuff.  This past Saturday, I spent the day in New Jersey visiting with family for my cousin's bride-to-be wedding shower.  It was so much fun having an opportunity to visit with family, friends and long-lost acquaintances that I haven't seen in years.  Days like this should not just be reserved for weddings and funerals, and every year I vow to keep in touch with special people and then life seems to get in the way. Besides spending a total of 6 hours in the car driving (3 hours there, 3 hours back) with my mother (!) -- really it wasn't all that bad.  The trip home Saturday evening was a bit rough, as I was exhausted by then, but it was nothing that a Grande Latte with an extra espresso shot (yes, th...

One of the largest wildlife refuge areas in Lancaster County, PA is Millport Conservancy near Lititz borough, between Lititz and Rothsville, PA.  Homes for sale in the area are few simply because the refuge takes up much of the valley that Lititz Run (another word for creek) flows through. The preserve is 100 acres of land along Lititz Run, beginning at Rothsville Road on the north and ending at Millport Road on the southern side.  The area is a valley, with a picturesque winding road that parallels the Conservancy.   A mill sits up on the hill off the main road, and large pond lies across the center of the valley about midway down the run.  Dense brush greets the traveller if you're not on an approved trail, so don't even try it!The creek itself is also picturesque (see more photos her...

Visiting Lancaster PA?  Not quite sure you want to spend the entire day looking at artwork during the 41st Annual Outdoor Art Show in Lititz PA on July 28th?  Need something else to do while your friends and family search for the next Picasso? Here are a number of other things to do while exploring the quaint boro of Lititz PA. Moravian Church Square of Lititz PA-  Originally built in 1759, the Brethren's House was also used as a military hospital in Lancaster PA during the Revolutionary War.  The Sister's House was built in 1758, and is part of Linden Hall, the oldest girls boarding school in the U.S.  Also known as the "Brother's House and Sister's House" - the genders were separated for church services during those times in Lancaster.  The Moravian Church was built in 1787, but has b...

Looking for something fun to do this weekend in Lititz PA?   The 41st Annual Outdoor Art Show in Lititz Springs Park will be held Saturday, July 28th, 2007, and is hosted by the Village Art Association of Lititz PA.  This event is open to all artists.  It is free of charge to the public to attend, and is usually a very popular Lancaster PA event!   The Members Gallery of the Village Art Association highlights some of the work of the very talented artists who are members of the association, and may be exhibiting there.-----------------------------------Several years ago, as a young Lancaster mother, I bought a signed and numbered print during one of the art shows that I attended in Lititz.  I was pregnant with my second child, and was strolling around with my 2-year old, and there was a ...

We had some friends over last night for a last-minute game of Texas Hold'em.  We used to get together during previous summers every Thursday night for a game.  The loser, or first one out, was always charged with the task of firing up the grill and making hot dogs for the rest of us who were still playing - as a penalty for being the first one out.  We had a good time last night.  And, most importantly - I won!  Too bad there was only four of us playing, and the winnings weren't that big, but nonetheless I got to add my name to the list of winners we've been keeping. Of course, winning isn't everything (who am I kidding?) but:  It occurred to me that buying a house is very much like a game of Texas Hold 'Em:        "You've got to know when to Hold Them, know when to Fold Them, know when...

July Fourth at Lititz Springs Park, Lititz PA This year marked the 190th Independence Day celebration at Lititz Springs Park!  Events were planned from July First all the way through July Fourth.  July 4th started out with a Tang Soo Doo karate demonstration, followed by an accoustic guitar program from Corty and Scott from the Green Onions. A national bell ringing ceremony was followed by Lititz's eighteenth annual baby parade.  The New Line Review, a dance ensemble, performed, while the kids "panned for gold" as the legendary General Sutter did in the 1849 Gold Rush.                        Later in the afternoon, attendees enjoyed Midlife Mitch and the Mood Swings, and a performance by the Lititz Community Band.  Intermittent rain in the evening delayed but did not prevent the 165th G...
