We all love food. We have to eat some each day in order to maintain some level of health and energy. This was my meal at lunch today. Very easy to make and semi-healthy. We use ground beef and add taco seasoning. One of the most satisfying aspects to this meal was the tomatoes. We produced them right here on the property. The stakes have given way, but still the production has been great. Here are a few picked tomatoes. We do not get store quality, but are able to trim them to gain the benefit of the best meat of this tomato. Let's sit down and eat together. The Beauty of a Backyard Butterfly Bush It is amazing to me how often I miss the beauty of God's creation in my own backyard. Too often we plan for the once in a lifetime trip to a far and exotic land. We dream of capturing the wonderous sunset, hearing the steady beating of the waves to the shoreline, or simply basking in a place we picture as paradise. However, I have recently realized that below my own nose was the beauty of a Butterfly Bush. It has been drawing the attention of multitudes of butterflys. Right here in Lititz, PA I realize there is beauty. Can I see it? Can I smell it? I earlier blogged about our ficus tree returning to the deck hoping for some revitalization and renewal. I decided to further explore how to best care for this tree. I learned much at this site. There were things I intuitively understood, but which were confirmed. Having as much natural light is necessary for the ficus tree. During the winters in PA it is somewhat difficult to provide that light. Has anyone ever used other lighting means over the winter to help provide more light for the ficus tree? Was it successful? Another thing I learned which is important is to not water the tree with water treated by chemicals. Our tap water which has been the means of water is part of the problem over the winter.
