Lebanon News to Use (Lebanon, PA)
So, I happened to come across the Oscar nominations the other day... I usually don't pay a lot of attention to them but after a year of not going anywhere, I thought I'd check out what people were watching and came across "Mank" from NETFLIX... Lucy and I spend a considerable amount of time with TCM on TV... It's on in the background like radio and we just absolutely love old movies... As many of you know, Ben Mankiewicz is the primary host after the death of Robert Osborne and the movie "Mank" is about, if I did things correctly, his grandfather... Anyway, it's shot in B&W, acted very well and if you're an old movie fan I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as we did... A great background story about the making of "Citizen Kane"... Make real popcorn and sit back for a good story.

Today is National Onion Day!   You may ask, why do onions get a national day?!  Check out the fun facts below!  Onions have been part of the human diet for more than 7,000 years. Ancient Egyptians worshipped onions, believing they symbolized eternity. Do not let your dog have onions! They can weaken a dog's red blood cells, leading to anemia that, in severe cases, could result in death. In the Middle Ages, onions were an acceptable form of currency, and was used to pay for rent, goods and services — and even as gifts! Onions destroy osteoclasts, bone cells which resorb bone tissue and weaken bones. The reason cutting onions make us cry is because cutting into it releases sulfuric acid, which reacts with the moisture in our eyes to create a tearful reaction. You can avoid the tears by cu...

Attention all brownie lovers!  Sunday, Dec. 8th is National Brownie Day.  It’s believed that brownies were created by accident. The classic recipe only requires 5 ingredients: butter, sugar, chocolate, eggs, and flour. Brownies turnout fudgy when they have minimal amounts of flour and no baking powder. Melting the butter creates a denser, fudgier outcome. Brownies turnout cake-like when they have less butter, more flour, and baking powder. Creaming the butter incorporates air into the mixture, which causes the brownie to rise higher. Brownies turn out chewy when they have an extra egg and a combination of semi-sweet and unsweetened chocolates. You can bake chocolate-free brownies, which are called blondies. The largest brownie ever made weighed in at 3,000 pounds. There are a million di...
