This is a concept that our nation has let slip away from everyday life, borrowing instead of buying. If my mother needed two eggs for a recipe, she would go to one of our friendly neighbors and borrow the eggs. Are you ready for this, we didn't have a car growing up. My mom and I would walk the long trek to the grocery store and take a taxi home on the big shopping trips. I pulled a wire shopping cart home on small runs. These kind neighbors saved me a lot of sneaker soles. This website is built on that old tradition of community, fellowship and kindness. It's a beautiful thing.... www.sharesomesugar.com

So spring is over, the summer is here and the inventory is through the roof.  Pricing?   Not a clue anymore.       This "buyers" market is maddening in the fact that there are no buyers.  Now you may say, "That's what makes a buyers market.", lots of sellers with minimal buyer's gives the buyers control over the market.  Well they have control but they're so few and far between that it seems that they are not around.  I have fought for every sale this month and with a buyer and a seller I put two homes to contract today.  My buyer's  negotiations lasted since the 16th and after much posturing met somewhere in the middle.  My seller is swallowing a bitter pill in the fact that even her counter was countered and she feels she must take it, and I agree.  It is her first offer and I...

If you donated to the Animal Rescue of Haiti http://activerain.com/blogsview/1446415/help-animal-victims-in-haiti then this is a Thank you video.   Since January of 2010, your support and compassion has helped countless animals in the wake of the earthquake in Haiti. You raised over $230,000 to directly help animal victims of the earthquake, which included pets, livestock, strays, and even native wildlife. And you are continuing to help protect Haiti's estimated 300,000 street dogs against rabies. The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) partnered with the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) to launch a coordinated animal relief response organization known as ARCH, the Animal Relief Coalition for Haiti. ARCH has helped over 25,000 animals of all kinds across Haiti...

I handle rental transactions as part of my practice and get asked a lot of Landlord/Tenant questions. A popular concern is on the handling of the tenant security deposit. I've paraphrased the two sections of the PA Security Deposit Law that address that issue: Section 250.511a. Escrow funds limited (a) No landlord may require a sum in excess of 2 months’ rent to be deposited in escrow during the first year of any lease. (b) During the second and subsequent years of the lease, the amount required to be deposited may not exceed one month’s rent. (c) During the third or subsequent year of a lease, the escrow funds together with interest shall be returned to the tenant in accordance with sections 511 and 512. (d) Whenever a tenant has been in possession of premises for a period of five year...

First Time Buyers who have a signed agreement of sale dated by April 30, 2010 and are to settle by June 30th just got that deadline extended by three months; voted yesterday by the Senate 60-37. This extension applies only to buyers who were under contract by April 30th. Senator Harry Reid (D-Nevada) was the sponsor of this amendment which will help in seriously depressed housing markets like the one in his state's Las Vegas area. The amendment is strongly supported by the National Association of Realtors. Some critics are saying some people will see this as an opportunity to cheat on their taxes by backdating their paperwork. This extension should ease the hugh volume of buyers and sellers that are trying to secure a settlement date to be eligible for their tax credit.

Tomorrow (June 10th) the Senate will vote on a resolution, crafted by Big Oil lobbyists, that will make it easier for polluters to get around EPA regulations -- even while oil continues to gush into the Gulf from the BP disaster.Call your senators today and tell them to vote against efforts to weaken EPA oversight of Big Oil.This arrogant move comes as the public is learning more about how the oil industry got around environmental and safety regulations for years, leading to the disaster in the Gulf. Now Alaska senator and Big Oil ally Lisa Murkowski is pressing forward with a resolution that will gut the Clean Air Act and strip the EPA of it's authority to limit global warming pollution.Tell your senators enough is enough -- Big Oil needs more regulation, not less.Worried that your voic...

The Sad Truth Today’s pets are extremely domesticated. They are completely dependant on us for their survival. And we depend on them for companionship, unconditional love and acceptance. We value them as a member of the family and we trust them to act appropriately around our loved ones. But the sad truth is that without us, they are helpless. Abandoned foreclosure pets cannot survive on their own. Most of them cannot find enough food by themselves and will starve to death. Others, depending on which part of the country they live in, are not equipped to deal with outdoor climates and will perish due to heat exhaustion or extreme cold. Without people to care for them, pets can easily get sick or contract diseases, especially when they are attempting to survive in the wild. A simple illn...
