I was floating on a raft that reflected the almost-violet and cloudless sky of Promised Land State Park, on a rare day off. The white, sandy beach was nearly empty at one of my favorite places in the whole world, Pickerel Point. Our market is thriving here thanks to the Rennaisance that followed the tornadoes of 1998.  Our customers and clients have been scrambling for the rustic getaways that surround the lake and abound in the village. I have lived here for almost twenty-three years, and I have learned never to take the beauty of its four magnificent seasons for granted.The market is coming back, although sporadically and selectively, for those who focus on service. Promised Land State Park in Pike County covers nearly 3000 acres is probably one of northeastern Pennsylvania's best places to spend the day (or a weekend, or a week!). Located on Route 390, a few miles south of I-84's Exit 26, it is easy to find. Our family visits Promised Land State Park several times a year.
