If you have a property for rent, please don't expect people with outstanding credit. You should be ashamed of yourself if you are an agent or potential landlord, and you think you are getting anyone over 650 credit scores yet alone 700 or more, and even 650 is high when most cross my desk in the 500's. Kiss my ass!!!

If you are in the market for purchasing any home or land whether for primary, vacation purposes or other, your first move is to select a buyers agent, one who represents you and your best interests in the transaction from start to finish. A Realtor who holds the ABR (Accredited Buyer Representative) designation from the National Association of Realtors (like myself), has demonstrated both in course work and documented, multiple sales transactions (at least 6 closed solely representing the buyer), his or her commitment to best serving the buyers needs. When I work with a buyer, I carefully listen to the buyers wants and needs and then coordinate the steps needed for a successful transaction. From helping arrange financing, selecting choice properties for viewing, negotiations, coord...

Finally, BBQ comes to the Poconos with the opening of Tickle My Pig BBQ on Milford Rd. (Rt. 209) in East Stroudsburg. Inside there are just a few tables but the menu selection is vast and the food is both delicious and a great value. Don't expect plates or fancy silverware, you are eating out of the styrofoam box, but that box is loaded! Ribs, pulled pork, Texas brisket, BBQ chicken and more are on the menu and you can get a choice of sauces: Mild, Medium and Hot. The ribs are smoked over apple wood and rubbed with spices and are very meaty and tender. The prices were so affordable. I had the "Pig Out Platter" which was my choice of 3 meats, two sides and corn bread for $11.95 and it was a lot for me to eat, I wound up sharing with my wife. Most entrees are in the $6 to $8 range. I...

There is a common misperception when it comes to pawn shops,  that they prey on the downtrodden, they are a home to unsavory characters, located in slummy neighborhoods filled with crime, drugs and homelessness. While older pawn shops in established neighborhoods might exist and have somewhat of that element surrounding it, newer pawn shops go along way to change the image one may have of pawn shops. The History Channel found the subject of pawn shops so compelling that they created a reality TV series around one called "Pawn Stars". The premise of the show is a father and son team who along with the sons' friend, run a pawn shop located in Las Vegas. They will purchase almost anything if they can re-sell it and make a substantial profit on it. Many items that come through their sh...

When an listing agent designates his showing instructions as to give 24 hr. notice, he is reflecting the wishes of his sellers to give them ample time to make certain accomodations that are convenient for them and make the showing as good for the potential buyer as well. Whether the seller has, kids, pets, needs to clean up or for whatever reason, these rules need to be followed. 24 hour notice does not mean calling an agent directly after the office is closed just because you have a last minute potential buyer who first now decides they want to come up and see homes. A serious buyer is going to give both you, the showing agent, enough time to schedule appointments properly and that not only benefits you but the home sellers as well. If someone is serious, they will make the necess...

A vote to pass an amended zoning ordinance which would allow for strips clubs and other seedy businesses near schools, churches and residences was passed by a 2 out of 3 corrupt majority that is the Middle Smithfield Township Supervisors. Both Scott Schaller and Bob Spano, the latter having a conflict of interest (conveniently stated for the record this time because of state ethics laws) with his ownership of Werry's Pub, voted in favor of this ordinance despite a vocal majority of residents who turned out in droves to oppose this injustice. While Mr. Spano technically abstained from the vote, he nevertheless had to cast a vote because of the way the state township and ethics laws are written. It is a complete farce that this can be the case where although he may have covered his r...

An unprecedented level of arrogance and disrespect for the will of the people was on display at a public hearing regarding proposed zoning changes in Middle Smithfield Township, which, if approved would allow adult entertainment and other undesireable establishments along Rt. 209 through the township. At the center of this issue is that one of the supervisors, Bob Spano, has an conflict of interest in that he is trying to sell a property that he owns and cannot find a buyer to make money off the sale as it is currently zoned. He used his power to advertise, incorrectly, that the property (Werry's Pub) would allow for use as a strip club. Now, he is using his position to change the zoning against the will of the people. Spano and Scott Schaller, in front of a large crowd of opponent...

If you are looking for those candies of your youth, homemade fudge, freshly made dressings, scented candles and a whole lot more, then you need to visit Country Kettle located on Rt. 209 in East Stroudsburg south of the Marshalls Creek intersection. Country Kettle is HUGE! It does not look that way from the outside which looks just like a home, which it was at one time (I don't know the full history behind the actual structure), but that is irrelevant. What is relevant, is that Country Kettle is a lot of FUN! Swarovski Crystals, Lenox figurines, the list goes on and on. Country Kettle is a tourist destination but locals love it as well. I stocked up on some wasabi coated peanuts for a little kick while my 3 year old son was in candy heaven, his favorite being the Swedish Fish. Hoor...

The Big A Steakhouse moved a few months ago from it's spot on Rt. 209 in Marshalls Creek by the Flea Market as a result of eminent domain for the Marshalls Creek Bypass project. It moved 2 miles further north to the corner of Keystone Road and Rt. 209 to a building which used to be the old Great Bear Golf and Country Club clubhouse. The Great Bear Golf and Country Club and the community of the Estates at Great Bear are right behind the restaurant. The new location is a blessing and the food has improved since I last visited The Big A at its' old location. I had Sauerbraten that was right on in its presentation and taste, served with a sweet red cabbage and spatzel noodles. The Sauerbraten was tender and full of flavor served in a nice brown, sauerbraten gravy. My wife had steak ten...
