Today was such an exceptional day! Here is a street view of Yachats, in full regalia with the new light standards and new sidewalks. I had lunch at Le Roy's Blue Whale Restaurant, an amazing soup and salad,  small loaf of freshly baked bread, YUM!  Look! There's a commercial building for sale, right next door to Le Roy's Blue Whale! It has an Advantage Real Estate sign on it!What a great location, close to the beach and down town areas, and homemade pies from Le Roy's. What could be better? Yachats, Oregon is about 40 minutes south of Newport Oregon, and is affectionately called, "Yachats, Gem of the Oregon Coast".   There are a number of wonderful ocean view properties in the hills above this commercial space.Lovely and serene Yachats neighborhood, where the pine trees overlook the sea...

When other central Oregon Coast beaches are crowded on a hot summer's day, I can usually find peace and relative solitude at the Muriel O. Ponsler Memorial State Scenic Viewpoint, where China Creek flows into the Pacific Ocean.  There are many miles of beach in either direction, offering further opportunities to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Pacific Ocean. The free wayside is located along Highway 101, a few miles north of the popular Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic Viewpoint and Carl G. Washburne Memorial State Park, and south of the town of Yachats. My wife and I can usually find an available picnic table to lay out a sumptuous spread, but we always bring along camping chairs and tables just in case.  Thick hedges help to block the wind on a breezy day.Who was Muriel O. Ponsler...

When the sun came out a couple of days ago, I was out on Yachats River Road to see a house. Mine eyes were pleasantly surprized by this little gem of a covered bridge!  My olfactory was enchanted by the sweet scent of apple blossom mixed with the more earthy waft of swamp lanterns, also known as skunk cabbage, a bright yellow flower that blooms next to rivers. The beach is about 10 minutes drive west of this spot.I can imagine the clip clop of horses hooves as I venture through the tunnel....enchanting!...Yachats is a small coastal town with a market, hotels, restaurants, 15 minutes south of nearby city of Waldport. Many of the properties in this area east of Yachats are homes with pasture, barn livestock.Work days like this one remind me how lucky I am to live on the Central Oregon Coa...

Howzabout a nice little beach getaway with over 6000 square feet? Or perhaps something slighly more manageable with around 4000? These two homes are perched on Basalt rock, volcanic formations which are a much better place to set a foundation than on sand. Other places Basalt rock is found are in Yachats and Depoe Bay.This photo was taken at the south end of Lincoln County, near Cape Perpetua. If you are searching for the perfect oceanfront beach house (or mansion!) set on a Basalt rock foundation, I will find it for you, but first you need to call me! Let's go for a house tour!

It was another wonderful day of trying to regain cellphone coverage in Yachats, Oregon, when all of a sudden my phone went on the blink. No cell service whatsoever. Give me a heart attack. This was just before I received a text message from my carrier that said I had run out of all of my roaming data. I called them, and they offered to immediately increase my data at no charge. I don't really understand why except they kept making a big deal out of the fact that I have been a loyal customer for 12 years. I guess that's unheard of in these days of fickle customers. They don't understand I am simply too busy selling Sacramento real estate to change carriers. But I didn't need cellphone coverage to hike the Historic 804 Trail in Yachats, Oregon. You can read more in my personal blog and see...

The Oregon Coast has some spectacular scenery and camping opportunities, but I've yet to find a better spot than space #17 at Tillicum Beach Campground in the Siuslaw National Forest. The Forest Service campground is located between Yachats and Newport on the Central Oregon Coast. The site offers 180 degree ocean views up and down the sandy beaches just below the campsite.  The fresh sea air is invigorating and the sound of the surf offers white noise for sound sleeping at night.  On cloudless nights, the stars are bright and plentiful. All this is available for a fraction of the price you'd pay for a hotel room.  If you have a Golden Age Passport, the cost is even less.  Reservations can be made for any of the 61 available camping sites on the Reserve America website up to six months ...
