One of my favorite times of year has always been autumn.  The colors are so magnificent in many of our hometowns, and Central Oregon is no exception!   So let me take you on a little tour and show you a few of my favorite places to visit.  Maybe you'll be convinced to take a trip of your own!  Much of the city of Redmond is nestled in a valley and surrounded by nature's finest, including: the Ochoco Mountains, Smith Rock, Mt. Bachelor, and other members of the Cascade Mountain Range.  Our high desert area is truly a diverse one.        Your trip to Redmond would not be complete without a stop by Dawson Station where you can enjoy lunch at the Mustard Seed Cafe, drop the family dog by Doggie Style to be groomed, check in with Raymond James for some financial advice, and when they give yo...

One of the biggest things stopping people from participating in the American Dream today is the ability to come up with the down payment. While talk of a credit crunch keeps some buyers sidelined because of credit problems, many others with good credit are able to get the best deals in years including programs with no down payment! The program leading the way in no down payment requirements (for non veterans) is the USDA Rural Development loan. This loan is available right now for Redmond and who better to show you homes in this community than Cat Zwicker-Grant with Desert Sky Real Estate in Redmond. To qualify for the program (it is income limited), a family of four cannot have a total household income of more than $70,750 per year. That is a pretty liberal guideline. If you are intere...

Fight Gone Bad III was held Saturday September 27th, 2008 and raised over $10,000   This CrossFit Workout, held at the new Central Oregon Cross Fit School of Fitness, proved to be both     hard and fun. Fight Gone Bad is a national fundraiser that has raised millions for different causes      through Athletes for a Cure. This year's event raised funds for the Alexis Hlavacek Benefit, a Redmond health and fitness enthusiast who was critically injured in a life-threatening motorcycle accident over the Labor Day holiday. For each person that participated in the event, The RAC donated $10 each in support of Alexis and her husband Dennis, regular and loyal members of the club. Joe Lochner of State Farm Insurance also contributed $10 per person. The remander came from additional donations. Sw...

Last week I introduced you to one of our local gathering places, WineStyles of Redmond, which just happens to be in the same complex as my office, Desert Sky Real Estate, LLC.  With free wine tasting for Wine Club members, I find myself "next door" once or twice a week.   One of the things I love is the "Cheers" feel you get when you walk through the door.  It is a rare occasion that I don't run into local friends and colleagues, or those I have met specifically through my wine tasting and live music adventures.   If you haven't visited our local WineStyles of Redmond, it's time.  As one of the original WineClub members, here from the beginning, I can tell you first hand you've been missing out!   This week's schedule of events include: Wednesday October 8th, Ladies Night!             ...

"The new tagline epitomizes the surprise reaction people exhibit when they learn about Redmond Downtown”, according to city officials and the Redmond Downtown Partnership (RDP).  Our little community has undergone many changes of late to improve the usability of our historic downtown shops.  A re-route of the heavy traffic of Highway 97 has just been completed and more upgrades to the downtown core, including the widening of sidewalks and restructuring of parking, are under way. "The vision for Redmond Downtown is a place of vitality, energy and excitement.  There are now more unique shopping, dining, and businesses," said Camden King, president of the Redmond Downtown Partnership, the organization tasked with marketing the downtown district.   New businesses drawn to our area by the i...

For those of you unfamiliar with our little town; Redmond has an approximate 'urban' population of 26,000 give or take a few; we've grown leaps and bounds in the past 5 years.  Last night, September 12, 2008, at our monthly 'Art Walk' the Downtown Redmond Partnership in conjunction with the City of Redmond and our local area Chamber announced our new logo and tag line.  "Redmond Downtown ... Who Knew!"  A somewhat off the cuff nod to our our neighboring localities who seem to think on occasion that the 15-20 miles that separates us is an ocean and that there is just not much to do here. Downtown Redmond, while admittedly a work in progress,  offers clean pedestrian friendly streets and locally owned businesses and shops.  Locations like Dawson's Station offers one stop shopping where yo...

Today I had a showing of one of my listings in Terrebonne - I have always loved the area and have watched it change over the last several years.  From Racnh of the Canyons going in to beautiful new homes big and small going in, there are now a couple of great subdivisions and so on.  It was interesting to see that the views are now considered to be much more valuable then they had been in the past. For those of you that have wanted a Cascade Mt View - and settled for a very far away one - next time you look for a view property you might consider something with a Smith Rock View - it is seldom cloudy enough to block your view - storms only make the rocks look beautiful as does the sun... they change with the seasons and the time of day - before you really push for that mountain view, ask ...
