Is There a Shortage of Homes for Rent in Your Neighborhood?  Apparently there is in Medford, Oregon.  KDRV.com is reporting that Jackson and Josephine County renters have drastically fewer housing options than they did a year ago, according to numbers from the Southern Oregon Rental Owners Association. The Southern Oregon Rental Owners Association estimates there will be less than 175 rental vacancies in May, down from just under 400 in the same month in 2009.  Realtors say one reason for the drop is that some landlords are actively trying to sell their properties, and others have lost their properties due to foreclosure.  Experts also expect the number of renters to go up, with those who have lost their homes now forced to rent. Meanwhile, a new report finds that the housing wage for J...

The Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater - Medford Oregon.  Back in the day, the Medford Oregon theater was called Hunt's Craterian, a vaudeville theater, that derived its name from Crater Lake.  That is, until a little 14-year-old girl named Ginger Rogers danced there in 1926. Little Ginger went on to great fame and fortune, and in 1940 she bought a ranch upriver from Shady Cove. She was one of the first big celebrities to call Southern Oregon home, for at least part of the year.  In the early 1990s, Rogers helped kick off the multimillion dollar fundraising campaign to restore the theater. She died in April 1995, before the renovation was finished.
