This just in from the Albany School District website (if you are thinking about moving here, we have one more reason): West Albany High and Oak Grove Elementary both earned Level 5 designations on Oregon's 2011-12 Next Generation School Accountability System. Level 5 is the highest possible rating a school can receive under the new system, and takes into account academic achievement and growth (and at the high school level, the 4- and 5-year cohort graduation rates).       West was one of 6 high schools in the 5A/6A OSAA classifications combined to earn the designation. Oak Grove Elementary had combined assessment results in the top 10% of all Oregon schools for students who met state benchmarks in reading or math, as well as outstanding student academic growth.

Fat Pig by Neil LaBute "The most emotional engaging and unsettling of Mr LaBute's plays since BASH... A serious step forward for a playwright who has always been most comfortable with judgmental distance."Ben Brantley, The New York Times directed by John Elliott Auditions: June 25, 26, 2012 Performances: August 31, September 1, 2(m), 6, 7, 8 2012 Cow. Slob. Pig. How many insults can you hear before you have to stand up and defend the woman you love? Tom faces just that question when he falls for Helen, a bright, funny, sexy young woman who happens to be plus-sized - and then some. Neil LaBute's sharply drawn play not only critiques our adherence to Hollywood ideals of beauty but also boldly questions our own ability to change what we dislike about ourselves. I can’t tell you how many times I have had a call or email like this: "We would like to see the home again that you showed us last week. I don't remember the address, but it is the one where we could watch sunsets from our kitchen window." It could be the one with the fireplace in the bedroom, or near the bus stop, or whatever. Feedback like this from a buyer tells me they can picture themselves living in that home because it satisfies their emotional needs, like convenience, safety, fun, pleasure, and pride of ownership. Multiple listing service data provides invaluable data. But it cannot provide the most important information I need to help clients find their sunset view—the prospective buyers' feelings. It is easy for real estate brokers to become so focused on a client’s ability to...

Proper home insulation can not only significantly lower your energy costs but also make your home more comfortable year round and can help maintain or increase your home’s market value! Installing new insulation batts perpendicular to the old ones will definitely result in a better overall insulation job. Initially, your insulation batts were installed between the ceiling joists, which is normal. However, that means that the wood joists themselves are not covered with insulation which leads to a long cold spot running along each one of those joists, relative to the insulation alongside it. (It's one of the reasons why blown-in attic insulation creates a more uniform insulation layer). By installing your new insulation batts perpendicular to the old ones, you now have the opportunity to ...
