Soon city buses in Edmond will turn over to natural gas and show a savings of $38,000 per year. This will be the first city-owned buses to use CNG or compressed natural gas fuel. Clear, odorless, and non-corrosive, it is a more environmentally clean alternative to gasoline, diesel, or propane. When mixed with biogas produced from landfills or wastewater, it does not release the concentration of carbon in the atmosphere. The project, which will include using a conversion kit, will be aided by a $250,000 federal stimulus grant. Currently, CNG fuel is $1.39 a gallon, and unleaded gas $3 a gallon.Shannon Entz, Edmond's community development manager, thinks this idea is favorable for everyone. The taxpayers will be saving money, and the fuel will be purchased locally at Edmond's OnCue Express...
