An active and vibrant community in North Edmond describes Belmont Farms located at the NE corner of Kelly and Coffee Creek.     Lush green lawns, green spaces, majestic trees, nature trails and winding wooded creeks create an environment that is both welcoming and pleasing to the eye.   On any given evening you will see families riding bikes on the paved trails that wind through the community or new mothers pushing strollers.  In fact you can ride, jog or walk on those trails all the way to Mitch Park and the MAC recreation center.  Belmonts green spaces and picnic areas provide a quiet retreat from everyday demands.  The new playground and the pool with cabana are inviting and a great way to find entertainment in your own "backyard."  You can even fish in the ponds.  Belmont Park I is ...

I question how much of this particular trend will flow into the Oklahoma City real estate market, but with last week's fall of a few of Edmond's larger home builders, we're definitely seeing a more conservative approach on both the building and buying sides. I guess the key here comes from the money quote in an article about shrinking homes: “We're getting back to more the way things were historically, kind of undoing the excesses..." On Tuesday morning, several Edmond , Oklahoma students went on a Jungle Safari to raise money as part of the Cross Timbers walk-a-thon theme. Students were happy as they traipsed along the Jungle Safari to the tune of "The Lion King." Parents also had their fair share of fun. Some walked with their children, while some cheered and held class banners. Students supported one another in great ways. Students mixed and mingled. Fourth graders walked with kindergartners, third graders walked with first graders, and fifth graders walked with second graders. The safari theme helped students focus on protecting our environment and planet. Students also learned about endangered species like the golden lion tamarin monkey, and how to participate in national conservation. They will also get to part...

On September 5th 2008, Edmond, Oklahoma will have its first green festival starting at 6:00pm. The festival will continue on Saturday at 2:00 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm at Stephenson Park. Just three months ago, the Getting Green not-for-profit organization was founded by Mark Neighbors. The Getting Green organization was established to encourage all Americans to be more environmentally friendly. Getting Green, will show everyone how to live ten to twenty percent more green. Many people across the Nation have already taken small steps, sometimes huge steps, to become more  environmentally friendly. But there are still many who think that going green will affect their lifestyle too much. And, that is why Getting Green was so important to Mark Neighbors. He is ready and willing to show ever...

The City of Edmond, Oklahoma and the Edmond Soccer Club have come together to make it more convenient to recycle plastic bottles.  This is great news for those who are doing their part to go green by recycling.  The city has placed twenty-five, 50-gallon, blue recycling buckets at Service Blake Park for team players, coaches, and fans to dispose of their plastic bottles.  The city is hoping to see more spectators and players use drink bottles that are reusable, such as water jugs or thermoses.  But, the city still wants to make it convenient to recycle for those who choose to use plastic bottles.  It is estimated that fifty percent of discarded trash is recyclable sports drink and water bottles.  After the soccer club approached the city about joining forces to recycle, the city agreed ...

It is going up for discussion soon, for the approval of the Inspirada Addition.  The property is currently zoned for single family homes.  The Inspirada Addition will be made up of 62 single family homes on 15 acres just north of Covell Road.  The addition will be west of Asheford Oaks and east of Autumn Ridge. The homes are expected to have twenty-five foot front yards, five foot side yards for one story homes and eight foot side yards for two-story homes, and twenty foot back yards.  The addition can easily be accessed by a ninety feet right of way on Covell Road.  There will also be a stub out road that will eventually be an extension of Autumn Ridge.  Best of all, the developers are leaving plenty of green space in this garden type retirement community.   I believe this will be a gr...

As heating and cooling costs continue to rise, many homeowners are looking for ways to save extra money while they increase their home's energy efficiency.  So, I have found this great way to save money and increase my home's energy efficiency.  It is done by installing a heat pump. Any Edmond , Oklahoma residents who replace their air-conditioning unit or gas furnace with a ground-source heat pump will be eligible for a heat pump rebate.  This will also save you money each month on your heating and cooling bill. To qualify for the rebate, the heat pump must meet some criteria.  The electric heat pump must be permanently installed, the heat pump must meet the minimum efficiency rating that is set by the city's rebate program, the pump must provide cooling and heating capabilities in one...

It's been a while since I've posted the monthly sales statistics for the Edmond and OKC Metro area, mostly due to our still strong market keeping me more than busy. So, I figured now would be a good time to get back in the groove.  If you're curious what the real numbers indicate in our market, check out the latest statistics and see for yourself.  I think both buyers and sellers will be pleasantly surprised, as we're beginning to see the slow shift back to a sellers market, yet the buyers can still take advantage of higher inventory levels and some sellers needing to get their homes sold.
