As hot as it has been, it is hard to believe summer is drawing to a close, summer break that is!  In Edmond, Oklahoma students return to school on August 19, 2010.  So now the rush is on to get them ready!School Supplies!  Pens, paper, Kleenex, watercolors, folders with pockets and brads, or folders with pockets and no brads!  The lists go on and on!  If you wait until school starts you can have an uphill battle on your hands! There is always one item on the list that is brand specific or a bit of a challenge to find.  I know someone who has already been searching for Prang watercolors without much success!  My girls are older now so watercolors are not on our list anymore.  But I remember one year I needed to find an orange folder with pockets AND brads.  I searched high and low without...

Edinburgh is Paradigm AdvantEdge’ neighbor to the south. I guess I’m prejudiced because I lived there for seven years, while selling the houses there – it is just a wonderful neighborhood. The neighborhood was targeted to empty nesters. Edinburgh is a Bill Roberts community consisting of 95 homes, built 6 to a cul-de-sac and centered around a beautiful greenbelt. The cul-de-sacs resemble a European village. Homeowners enjoy a gated community, beautiful greenbelt area, front yard maintenance, clubhouse with fitness center, swimming pool and spa. Prices generally range from the low $200’s to low $400’s. Home sizes range from 1,700 sq ft to 3,200 sq ft. The homes were built between 1999 and 2005. I love a convenient lifestyle.  Being able to walk to the store for a gallon of milk or biking to meet a friend for coffee suits me to a tee.  That lifestyle can be found in Edmond, OK near the intersection of Danforth and Santa Fe.  That's my stomping grounds.  Just about everything I could need can be found a stone's throw from that intersection.  Let me give you a walking tour;Let's start on the southeast corner.  That's where you will find one of Edmond's two Walmart Supercenters.  This location has an auto department and a gas station.  Of course all the usual groceries and household items are there too.  Next to Walmart is a small strip center that includes Payless Shoes, At the Beach Tanning, Game Stop, and opening soon Sally's Beauty Supply.  There is even a UPS Store. If we cros...

How to Make Your Move Easier on Your PetI am a pet lover!  Cannot imagine life without my dogs.  I have two; Bellah a Shih-tzu and Olive a Bulldog (that's her reading my blog).  We spoil these dogs like you would not believe!  They have a pretty good life.  But any change would really stress them out.  If we were to move, we would have to take some extra steps to make it easier on them. A few tips the experts recommend are; ·Don't rush. Take your time packing and getting ready. Try to avoid the last-minute panic that often accompanies a move. Your animals sense your own stress, so stay calm. ·Avoid change. Keep your pet on its regular feeding and walking schedule for as long as possible. ·Create a safe place. If your dog or cat will need to be in a carrier, get him used to it beforehand...

The Muirfield Village community planned a 4th of July party for the residents. The original plan called for a barbecue brisket and fried chicken dinner to be held around the pool followed by a concert in the park by Roy Orbison at our portable drive-in movie screen. Unfortunately weather precluded any outdoor activity so we moved indoors to the Muirfield Village clubhouse. Despite the weather, a good time was had by all.         Originally posted on okchomesellers.com

In the last year or so sellers in the Oklahoma City Metro have had to adjust their expectation of what their home is worth. Many sellers still have the attitude that it’s still 2005 and if and when they sell their home they’ll get what they want for it or more! Many sellers steadfastly regard their homes as better than the competition and of far greater value. I guess it’s not that surprising that people would lack objectivity when it comes to their own home. That’s why an experienced real estate agent is particularly useful. One of the most important things that experienced real estate agent can do is to set appropriate expectations. Just this last weekend I experienced this myself. I wrote an offer on a 2 bedroom house that had been on the market for 5 days and was priced at $324,900...
