Paying It Forward:  Sponsoring More Bears for "His Hands Bear Ministry" Twice a year our church holds an adopt-a-bear program.  Now these aren't the furry wildlife kind, they're actually VERY tame and comforting.  The senior group at our church (Christ's Church at Mason) has a very neat outreach program called "His Hands Bear Ministry".  Once a month they get together and make dozens and dozens of little stuffed bears. Each is truly unique, different fabric, vests, hats, ties and various costume items.  They literally make HUNDREDS of these little bears every year! And these bears have a mission, and are on a mission!  They're donated to  patients at local hospitals and cancer centers to provide them some comfort!  From children to adults, the intent is to let them know that God and str...

The Beach Waterpark Melts The Beach on Ice for 2011 Mason's The Beach Waterpark announced this week that it's annual The Beach on Ice will NOT be held this year.  Traditionally featuring Ohio's largest outdoor ice skating rink, a toboggan slide, carriage rides, a petting corral, the Polar Express miniature train display, and the Starlight Entertainment Pavilion, The Beach on Ice was one of the area's premier winter events. Held mid-December through just after New Year's Day, it was one of the few outdoor events that you could go freeze your tailfeathers off and still have a great time! However, attendance has declined in 2009 and 2010, and when you consider the expense of staffing the park, making all the changes, maintaining the ice rink, etc., The Beach on Ice becomes a casualty of th...

Paying It Forward:  Kings Island Pink Days and Floating Snoopys Awhile back we told you about Kings Island teaming with the local affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation to fight breast cancer, and they've been quite busy with the activities!  Kings Island is about much more than just riding roller coasters all day, with lots of community involvement projects! Kings Island is wrapping up three weeks of offering discounted tickets during Pink Days, and $1 of each ticket went to Susan G. Komen Foundation.  Then they tried to set the Guinness world record for world's largest human pink ribbon (didn't break the record, but still raised funds for the cause!).
